The month of March is on its way out, and April is right around the corner. There’s a change in seasons coming, and it’s a fresh time to hone up on some chiropractic philosophy, science, and art. Events are taking place all over the U. S., and there’s a few I wanted to report on in Southern California, Las Vegas, and New Jersey. It’s a great time to get off your buttocks and fellowship with others.

Rancho Cucamonga Chiropractor, Deborah Lynn Lepper, was found in her vehicle on a Los Angeles area freeway Thursday night, around 10:30 p.m. The 54-year-old female chiropractor had been shot in the head while driving on the 10 Freeway in Pomona. Police are seeking the public’s assistance in tracking down whoever shot and killed Dr. Lepper.

Happy Birthday wishes go out to Dr. Sid Williams and his “bride” (as he calls her) Dr. Nell. On March 18th, Dr. Sid turns 80 years young. March 13th (today), is Dr. Nell Williams birthday.

The medical community is divided over what approach should be taken in controlling the rapid spread of drug resistant Staphylococcus Aureus bacteria in hospitals and other crisis care facilities. There are professionals with the belief that hospitals should be performing widespread screening on large numbers of patients, isolating those that match positive for methicillin-resistant stapholoccocus aureus (MRSA) infection. Others argue that a widespread screening approach can be both inefficient and costly. In a recent study, such screenings reportedly resulted in expenses hospitals didn’t need, with no decrease in hospital acquired infections occurring.

When it comes to discussing small business approaches, there is no argument that developing a service minded client strategy, can reap both short-term and long-term benefits. It’s easy to categorize a topic like this into a marketing pigeonhole, but there is a multitude of other reasons why businesses put such an emphasis on customer service. 10 years ago, deciding on a name for one’s chiropractic office was a fairly easy decision. In the naming process, a typical chiropractor would determine what other names were being used in the community and steer clear of those. If not using their last name for their clinic (Smith Chiropractic) it wouldn’t be uncommon that they would choose one of several popular chiropractic office names, usually ones they’ve heard being used by friends and colleagues in other states. The Internet and the desire for one’s office name to rank well in search engines has changed that, at least for now.

The Chiropractic Roundtable Discussion Group (CRDG) is scheduled to meet in Las Vegas on Friday, April 11, 2008. Chiropractors representing 12 states will meet to discuss the Open Chiropractor Directory Project, which was created to speed the process of organizing groups for humanitarian missions, chiropractic office emergency coverage, student volunteer programs and internships, and local community outreach.

A Friday evening should not be spent searching one’s web site for content that’s difficult to find. I was sifting through some news archives earlier today, preparing an article on 2008 politics and the chiropractic vote, and I was having a difficult time locating a piece or two authored by myself, search should be a lot easier than that.

According to various news sources, a Georgia family will issue a press release today regarding a US government “vaccine court” decision, with a finding that the family should be compensated from a federally funded vaccine injury fund, as a result of injuries occurred after their child received vaccinations.
