Los Angeles Chiropractic Landmark Closing Doors August 2011

The end of a long history in chiropractic is coming to Los Angeles, as the Cleveland Chiropractic College system has announced today, its decision to close the Cleveland Chiropractic College Los Angeles campus in August 2011. The family owned chiropractic school, operated in the Los Angeles area for the past 60 years, after Carl Cleveland purchased Ratledge College of Chiropractic in the 1950s. According to reports from the college, the Kansas City campus will not be affected by the closure taking place in Los Angeles.

A massive storm moved through Orange County California this past weekend. Outside it was hail and torrential sideways rain, wreaking havoc throughout the Southland, inside it was chiropractic thunder and spine sizzling lightning, as chiropractors from around the world gathered together for the fourth annual DCS Chiropractic California Jam. Sherman College Appoints Vice President for Enrollment Services

Kelley Jones Ashcraft has been appointed vice president for enrollment services and will direct Sherman College of Chiropractic’s efforts to build student interest in chiropractic as a career and increase enrollment in the doctor of chiropractic program at Sherman College. Prior to her work in higher education, Jones Ashcraft worked as a marketing analyst and planner at Milliken & Company. She holds an MBA from the University of South Carolina, a bachelor’s degree in mathematical sciences from Clemson University and has completed coursework toward a doctorate in higher education administration.

COCSA partners with Army OneSource to launch Healing Hands 4 Heroes

COCSA formalized the partnership by launching a nationwide program, Healing Hands 4 Heroes, and by becoming the first health care profession to sign an Army Community Covenant. With a registration code from the local State Chiropractic Association, chiropractors can register free of charge for any of the three courses: Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, Traumatic Brain Injury, and Issues of Women Returning from Combat.

December holidays can be a stressful time. Drivers are distracted, people are running all about town buying gifts, workers are handling longer hours than usual, and folks are generally stressed. As a Los Angeles doctor of chiropractic, I think we see that stress on the streets (and on the adjusting table) as much as any metro area chiropractor does. We do our best to make the holiday season bright and stress-free as possible. Having awesome weather in Los Angeles helps (no snow, ice and road salt on the ground) but it feels at times everyone’s rushing to LAX International Airport, on their way to see family, and perhaps getting their last chiropractic adjustment of the year.

The National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA) announced in October that the Palmer Academic Health Center and the Campus Health Center clinics on the Palmer College of Chiropractic campus at 1000 Brady St., Davenport, Iowa, have received Recognition from the Back Pain Recognition Program (BPRP) for providing superior care to clinic patients suffering from low back pain. Palmer’s Florida Campus to Construct Third Building

The Florida Campus of Palmer College of Chiropractic is growing… again. The Palmer College Board of Trustees approved a plan in September to construct a two-story, 14,000-square-foot building with a budget of $4 million on the Port Orange campus, located at 4777 City Center Parkway. The new building will significantly expand support services for the campus’ nearly 750 students. Construction is expected to begin in early 2011, following approvals by the City of Port Orange.

Glad I decided to pack my heavy Canon EF 24-70mm f/2.8L lens along with my Canon EOS Digital Rebel XSi camera when I went to New Jersey for New Beginnings this past weekend. As I typically do at chiropractic conferences (and even search engine optimization conferences) I took lots of photos. I have found over the past 15 years, that if I don’t upload those photos soon after they’re taken, they disappear somewhere into the abyss of my hard drives and backup media.
