NPCO Running for Chiropractic in 2011 Chicago Marathon

Runners will be hitting the streets of Chicago this October when Non-Profit Chiropractic Organization (NPCO) fields its’ largest charity team ever at the Bank of America Chicago Marathon this fall. Palmer Chiropractic N8k Charity Run to Benefit Juan Diez Rancheros

Palmer College of Chiropractic’s Student Council will hold its Palmer N8K charity run to benefit local horse therapy program Juan Diez Rancheros on Saturday May 21, at 9 a.m. This is the fourth year for the run, which will be eight kilometers, or roughly five miles. There also will be a two-mile walk for those who would like a more comfortably paced activity.

LIFE EVP & Provost Elected to ACC Executive Board

The Executive Board for the Association of Chiropractic Colleges announced its newly elected officers on Thursday, March 17, 2011, at the Association of Chiropractic Colleges/Research Agenda Conference (ACC/RAC) held in Las Vegas, Nevada. The Board, which consists of the presidents (or designees) of each chiropractic program in the U.S., Canada and New Zealand, elected incoming President Richard Brassard (Texas Chiropractic College), Vice President Mark Zeigler (Northwestern University of Health Sciences) and Dr. Brian McAulay, Life University Executive Vice President and Provost, as Secretary-Treasurer. The outgoing president is Frank Nicchi (New York Chiropractic College). McAulay will serve a two-year term, as will the other appointees, and will likely succeed Ziegler as vice president and then president, according to ACC custom.

Mexican University Dedicates New Library Honoring Fabrizio Mancini

A public university near Mexico City, the Universidad Estatal Del Valle de Ecatepec (UNEVE), the first institution in the world to offer a Spanish-taught chiropractic program, recently dedicated its new campus library to Dr. Fabrizio Mancini, president of Parker College of Chiropractic. The new building is the official library for the entire university and supports the education of five distinctive careers including acupuncture, chiropractic, gerontology, humanities, and multimedia communication.

Palmer College of Chiropractic makes strong showing at 2011 ACC-RAC

Palmer College of Chiropractic Chancellor Dennis Marchiori, D.C., Ph.D., along with a number of College faculty, staff and administrators, attended the Association of Chiropractic Colleges-Research Agenda Conference (ACC-RAC) March 17-19, in Las Vegas. Employees from all three campuses attended sessions and made platform and poster presentations, and two Palmer presentations garnered awards. Additionally, staff members from Palmer’s Continuing Education Department processed all state applications for CE credit at the conference.

What courses do I have to take in order to be accepted into the chiropractor program? Can I get my pre-chiropractic education at my local community college? Many practitioners and chiropractic-students no longer have access to historical information, as our analog items deteriorate, and slowly fade into nonexistence. Personally, I find historical archives fascinating, whether they be of a chiropractic nature or not. Texas Legislature Educated on Vital Chiropractic Profession Issues

A group of more than 50 students, faculty, and staff from Parker College of Chiropractic traveled to the Texas State Capitol in Austin, Texas to educate the Texas Legislature on the value and credibility of the chiropractic profession. The Texas Chiropractic Association (TCA) organized the day at the capitol and encouraged chiropractors to join them in informing lawmakers. Parker representatives jumped at the opportunity to explain to legislators the training and qualifications possessed by doctors of chiropractic.

Dr. Brian Kelly became the second only president of Life Chiropractic College West on February 1, 2011. Kelly, a native of New Zealand, was an undergraduate student at Victoria University, Wellington, New Zealand and completed his professional education and training in chiropractic at the Phillip Institute of Technology (PIT) now the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology (RMIT), Melbourne, Australia. Los Angeles Chiropractic Landmark Closing Doors August 2011

The end of a long history in chiropractic is coming to Los Angeles, as the Cleveland Chiropractic College system has announced today, its decision to close the Cleveland Chiropractic College Los Angeles campus in August 2011. The family owned chiropractic school, operated in the Los Angeles area for the past 60 years, after Carl Cleveland purchased Ratledge College of Chiropractic in the 1950s. According to reports from the college, the Kansas City campus will not be affected by the closure taking place in Los Angeles.

A massive storm moved through Orange County California this past weekend. Kelley Jones Ashcraft has been appointed vice president for enrollment services and will direct Sherman College of Chiropractic’s efforts to build student interest in chiropractic as a career and increase enrollment in the doctor of chiropractic program at Sherman College. COCSA formalized the partnership by launching a nationwide program, Healing Hands 4 Heroes, and by becoming the first health care profession to sign an Army Community Covenant. Life Chiropractic College West presented doctor of chiropractic degrees to 56 candidates during its 57th graduation celebration on Saturday, December 11, 2010 at the Chabot College Performing Arts Center in Hayward. Chiropractic Office Holiday Spirit

December holidays can be a stressful time. Drivers are distracted, people are running all about town buying gifts, workers are handling longer hours than usual, and folks are generally stressed. As a Los Angeles doctor of chiropractic, I think we see that stress on the streets (and on the adjusting table) as much as any metro area chiropractor does. We do our best to make the holiday season bright and stress-free as possible. Having awesome weather in Los Angeles helps (no snow, ice and road salt on the ground) but it feels at times everyone’s rushing to LAX International Airport, on their way to see family, and perhaps getting their last chiropractic adjustment of the year.

Life Chiropractic College West Graduates 56 Doctors of Chiropractic

Life Chiropractic College West presented doctor of chiropractic degrees to 56 candidates during its 57th graduation celebration on Saturday, December 11, 2010 at the Chabot College Performing Arts Center in Hayward. The doctor of chiropractic degree represents a four-academic-year program of study and clinical internship. At the ceremony, valedictorian honors went to Susan Wang of San Jose, California, for the graduating class of Summer 2010 and Julie Gray of Orangevale, California, for the graduating class of Fall 2010.

Chiropractic Office Holiday Spirit

December holidays can be a stressful time. Drivers are distracted, people are running all about town buying gifts, workers are handling longer hours than usual, and folks are generally stressed. As a Los Angeles doctor of chiropractic, I think we see that stress on the streets (and on the adjusting table) as much as any metro area chiropractor does. We do our best to make the holiday season bright and stress-free as possible. Having awesome weather in Los Angeles helps (no snow, ice and road salt on the ground) but it feels at times everyone’s rushing to LAX International Airport, on their way to see family, and perhaps getting their last chiropractic adjustment of the year.
