b. Pamphlets about Oklahaven Children’s Chiropractic Center.
c. Hearts to list donor’s name and display in your waiting room, front desk or along the halls to patient rooms.
d. Information sheets with details and deadlines for the campaign.

Here’s What We Are Asking You To Do:
a. Show the video to your patients while they are in the waiting room.
b. Ask the patients to sponsor a heart by giving a gift and writing their name on a heart to be displayed.
c. Collect money donated.
d. Keep a log of who donates and the amount.
e. Send us your final report detailing your office’s success.

“Amazing” And “Awesome” were the words used by some of the patients to describe the first time they viewed the Oklahaven video. The video educates patients about the benefits of chiropractic for children and about success stories of the more severely challenged children.

Your 2001 Chiropractic Commitment

By James Sigafoose, D.C.

This is the spirit of infinite plenty, the power that has brought and is continually bringing, all things into expression, in material form… If you live in the realization of oneness with this power you become a magnet to attract to ones self a continual supply of whatever things you desire.

If you hold yourself in the thot of poverty, you will be poor, and will remain so until thinking changes. If you hold your thot in prosperity, you set in forces that will sooner or later bring you into prosperous conditions. The law of attraction works unceasingly through out the universe, and the one never changing fact is… like attracts like.

We are one with this infinite power, the source of all things, in the degree that we live in the realization of this oneness, and in the degree we actualize in ourselves a power that will bring to us an abundance of all things, that it is desirable for us to have. – Just Do It

Don’t forget to sit down and do your goals for the next year. Also, go out and buy poinsettias and sit them around the office, then give them away a few days before Christmas. Give acknowledgement to the patient of the year, and have a New Years get together with a covered dish, and discuss with your folks, to plan a new way of life.

Lock into constructive thinking, forgiveness, abundance and thankfulness.

Talk about regular family chiropractic checks, the use of nutrients, exercise (walk or run), how to think and see themselves the way they want to be, not how they are. Cancel negative and replace with positive. Have fun and start from there for you to have a monthly advanced living session and for them to help and bring friends. You may get so big you might have to have a hotel room. Make it a game and don’t do it for new patients. Do it as a service to the community. Put notices up at peoples work places, the gyms, and health food stores, etc…

Now that the year is ending, is the time to plan next year. Plan your work, and work your plan. Have a year end meeting and discuss all the wins and strengths. Lay out a 1 year calendar and write in what and where you are going to promote, and talk and educate. Know what you are going to do and do it.

Have a Doctors talk once a week or twice depending on the number of new patients. By the way, are you getting 100 new patients per month and if not why not? Are you using education cards, having open houses, covered dish parties, home gatherings, corporate talks, re-call letters, birthday cards thank you grams etc., or are you sitting around and chewing your cud like a cow in the pasture?

Let’s get ourselves committed to seminars, i.e.: all the Gatherings, send your CA’s to CA college, at least each 6 months. Lets have you invest in tapes, video and audio. I will see you at Dynamic Essentials, Parker, and when I go to Paris, England, and Spain.

Dedicate yourself to growth and change. Lock into constructive thinking, forgiveness, abundance and thankfulness. Get your fees set so that all can afford you for a long time.

Keep the faith, and walk by faith not by sight. Pray and bless your enemies, send money to Oklahaven, smile and be happy, by looking for the good in things that are bad, accept it, and move on. @ 10:53 am | Article ID: 977424789

FDA policy leads to more deadly drugs news

Note: During the past year we have seen an increase in articles, from many sources, highlighting the dangers associated with prescription drug use. While some may see it simply as medical bashing, others feel there is a responsibility to tell the truth about our current health care system. Today’s Los Angeles Times front page article pulls no punches with headlines that read “Seven Deadly Drugs.”

The Los Angeles Times today, reports with an in depth article detailing how changes in FDA policy has lead to many new drugs reaching the market. Along with the new drugs have come increased reports of adverse drug reactions as well as increased incidence of death.

You may want to read this article: How a New Policy Led to Seven Deadly Drugs

Posicor: 143 Sudden Deaths Did Not Stop Approval
Lotronex: Officer Foresaw Deadly Effects
Rezulin: Fast-Track Approval and a Slow Withdrawal

Another note: What bothers me most is not the fact that the healthiest people I know do not take drugs. For some, it is a long stretch to imagine that there are people that don’t pop a pill at every ill. It is a stretch to think that some don’t use a powder or potion for every condition that comes along.

No, that’s not what bothers me most. What bothers me most is that many on our planet do not know what you know about health. Inherent within lies some responsibility to share that, yes?

In a season when everyone is giving, you have the greatest gift to offer. Can you make a difference? @ 7:36 am | Article ID: 977326560

Christmas with Sigafoose – 30 Minute Talk

The following are excerpts from a talk that Dr. James Sigafoose gave to a group of more than 400, gathered in his daughters community, to hear his story about chiropractic. Click on the audio links below to listen to this magnificent talk.

Dr. James Sigafoose
My father encouraged me to be a chiropractor from the time I was four years old. He went to chiropractic college, first of all, he went to Johns Hopkins to be a medical doctor at age 21. He became sick, and as a matter of fact he became paralyzed and they didn’t know what to do with him. So they sent him home. He was living in Hagerstown at that time.

He couldn’t move for about two months and a chiropractor, Dr. Crider, one of the first chiropractors in the state of Maryland, offered to come by to adjust him to see if he could help. My father denied that. My father called him a quack. He said he didn’t want a quack to touch him. Two months later, he was still paralyzed and he said “go get the quack.” Well that quack came in, reached over and adjusted his neck. The next day my father walked down to the Square in Hagerstown and up three flights of steps. So he decided he wanted to be a chiropractor. He went to school for a short period of time and ran out of money in 1920, and from that point on he designated me to carry that on.

I have two brothers older than myself, he never mentioned that to them, he mentioned it to me. I always felt as though I was born to be a chiropractor, it’s the reason I showed up on planet Earth. My children assumed the same roles apparently, I never encouraged them to be chiropractor’s. I wanted them to do that on their own if that’s what they wished, and they all wished. (All six Sigafoose children have become chiropractor’s)

But I want to talk to you about health. There is an attitude about health in this country that medicine and drugs, or drugs I should say, and surgery, is the answer to health. I’m going to tell you tonight, or this afternoon, that that’s not true. Now for some of you that is going to sting a little bit. But that’s the way it will have to be.

Does anybody know the largest killer disease in America is what? Heart disease. What’s the second killer? Cancer. So we have heart disease and cancer. What’s the third killer? Prescribed drugs. It’s the third largest killer in the United States. Now I’m not here to bash medicine, but I am here to get you to change your attitudes perhaps. And attitudes are extremely important.

Hopefully, we can get you to change your attitudes about what you need to do. I know that many of you are chiropractic patients. Many of you have been chiropractic patients for a long time. Let me get to this, this thing called chiropractic. There are people here that are not under chiropractic care that need to be under chiropractic care. And the opinion of people who think that they go to the chiropractor for cricks, backaches, and strains, is dead wrong. When I say dead wrong I mean that, dead wrong.

You go to a chiropractor for one reason. Now some of you had come to me because you had marked symptoms of something. Some of you had disease processes of one kind or another, everything from cancer to hemorrhagic colitis as I recall. And a variety of skin diseases, and blind eyes, and deaf ears, and infectious diseases, and so on. And you might say “what’s that got to do with chiropractic?” “I thought chiropractic had something to do with the spine.” Well it does, but it doesn’t have anything to do the treatment of symptoms and it doesn’t have anything to do with the treatment of disease. So you might say, well then “what is the purpose, what am I going there for?”

So let me explain this you…

What Does It Take?

By Dr. James Sigafoose

In order to get to the top, what do we have to do?
We have to know what we want, we have to endure being uncomfortable, we then go thru a learning experience, then duplicate a successful model, then improve 1/10th %, in our actions and thots each day, when we do so, we double our production. Within one year, if we maintain the discipline of thinking and acting 1/10th % improved over the day before, we continue to double each year, and hit the top in about 5 yrs.

Most of us that wish to be the best have to do things that are easy, and we need someone that will grab us by the neck and make us do things we are uncomfortable with. Easy means things we can do. We can change and learn and be uncomfortable, that’s easy. We can also not do those things and that too is easy.

Once we learn to be inner directed and follow the pattern of discipline and change, we can be successful in any endeavor we choose to undertake. One major holdup is to cling to things that don’t work, learned from someone, who has never made it to the top, and too afraid to leave your comfort zone, even though it has been proven to be un-successful.

When we learn to be 100%, in everything we do i.e.: chiropractic, family, play, any other business, or activity, then we can win 95% of the time in everything we do. People who won’t win always blame someone else for their position on the pole. People who win, always take total responsibility, for their condition.

I have found we all need a coach, or mentor. We all know someone who wont ask for help, and fail day after day, thinking they will find a magic wand or foo foo dust somewhere. As Gary Stewart put it, after several years he finally found a gold mine. And though he looked and looked for it, he finally found it where? Inside himself, a never ending gold mine, that he can now harvest the rest of his life if he stays connected to the source which was inside all the time he looked outside.

So the moral of the story is: apply your disciplines, be uncomfortable for the time it takes thru the learning process. Become inner directed, and responsible for your own actions, and hang with birds of a feather, and keep a mentor before you, until you become the mentor, and even then, there must be one above you, that you will follow for life.

Let money represent a spiritual vehicle, and instead of collecting it and hoarding it, earn it and give it away. Keep it circulating. Don’t work for money, serve for god and let the great spirit take care of the exchange laws. Don’t give your services away literally, but give yourself away, and the money will take care of itself.

Give. Serve the masses and the law will pay you, and you will enjoy happiness, peace and prosperity. Be ever thankful for all the good you receive, and see how you respond to things perceived not to be good. Its how you do the latter, as to how your life works. Keep the faith, turn the crank, and testify. Walk by faith not by sight.

Much love, and prayer for your happiness and success. @ 7:05 am | Article ID: 977151959

The Gospel of Good Health

ABC News reports on the power that made the body with an article titled: “Science Meets Spirituality – Doctors, Clergy Discuss Higher Power, Healing”

According to the article, nearly 700 health care professionals, and others, will be meeting this weekend to discuss, none other than the power of prayer. Discussions will be held at a conference known as the “Spirituality and Healing in Medicine” conference.

Spirituality and Healing in Medicine? What is this, some sort of quackery convention? Actually, the event is sponsored by Harvard Medical School and the focus is to “discuss the integration of mind/body medicine into mainstream health care,” according to the article.

The hopes of some of those at the conference, according to the article, is to “convince medical practitioners and the population in general that faith not only feels better, it’s better for us physically.”

The article states that more than 1000 studies have been done on the healing powers of faith and on the effects spirituality has on health. According to the article, there have also been studies done that show evidence that meditation positively affects people suffering from a number of ill-health conditions.

Some, according to the article, believe that meditation could reduce visits to medical doctors’ offices “by 35 percent to 50 percent a year.” But don’t expect your insurance to pay for it, since according to the article, “health insurance is meant to pay for medical care.”

Fellow Guardians Of The World Within

By Stew Bittman

! No, that’s not a typo. That is an honest to goodness exclamation point. A noble punctuation mark, indeed, and it best describes my current state. There is an underlying excitement to every moment; a peaceful, easy feeling of connection and synchronicity, cradled in the arms of Spirit. I feel as if the universe was putting on a show, written by my thoughts, starring a cast of thousands of fellow travelers, and directed by God.

I can feel Innate tugging on my sleeve, saying, “come on, you don’t know how long I’ve waited for this!” Opportunities lurk behind every tick of the clock. My life is beginning to look a lot like my dreams. I can see a progression in punctuation, as far as my adult life goes. Initially it was like a colon. Shitty. Then for a long time, it was the age of the comma. Marking time, pausing, experimenting, basically seeing how many different chemicals my liver could detoxify. Pretty amazing organ, thank God.

Something was waiting on the other side of the comma, but damned if I knew what it was. It turned out to be chiropractic. Through chiropractic I caught a glimpse of the truth. Then I entered into the question mark era. My brain wanted answers to things it had never even previously questioned. I wasn’t ready for a lot of the answers I got, and the ones I was ready for only birthed additional questions. Many layers began melting around my heart though, and my seeking and questioning stirred up my passion for life and for the discovery and the expression of my gifts.

Through the discipline I developed in my meditation and my other spiritual work, I found large pieces of my Self, which led to the period period. I had evolved spiritually, and my ego found something new to sink its teeth into. I knew it all; there was nothing else to seek. I didn’t need anyone or anything; didn’t need to hear anything or read anything. This cosmic arrogance somehow didn’t stop the universe from continuing to work me. My journey had brought me to a semi-colon. Half shitty. The half when I was still in my head, still attempting to run the show.

! Man, it feels good to type that. Exclamation points bring up awe and adventure and passion and letting go and joy and freedom. Everything I want in my life, and everything that is beginning to manifest. Chiropractic should always be written with an exclamation point after it. The principle is a masterpiece of thot, a road map for self-discovery and self-expression, a beautiful and incredibly impactful idea. We’ve had numerous people heal up during my talk lately! And the adjustment is a living, loving expression of the principle, changing lives wherever we take it. Such a deal – as we work our principle, it lovingly and perfectly works us. !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! @ 5:52 am | Article ID: 976888371

Reggie Gold’s Message For The Millennium

“There was no year zero.” – Reggie Gold
The following are excerpts from an audio recording of Reggie Gold, D.C., speaking in December of 2000. Listen to the audio and enjoy the talk.

It’s not your job to get sick people well. Let’s start thinking dammit. Think, Think, Think.

Your job is to get rid of the vertebral subluxation, and if you keep your people subluxation free, you’ve done a perfect job. I don’t care what technique you use. The thing is you have to be able to recognize when they are subluxated. There’s no better condition to be in, then subluxation free.

Windows Media Player required for this audio:

Structure is always related to function. You must alter structural design to change the function. A vertebral subluxation is a change in the structure of the body. Changing the structure of the body, changes the function of the body. If you alter the structure of the body, with a vertebral subluxation, you alter the function of the body.

Every vertebral subluxation without exception has a negative effect upon the body, not necessarily upon the symptoms of the body. This focus on symptoms has choked and destroyed the chiropractors ability to know his own profession.

Symptoms are not the first stage of disease. Doesn’t it make sense to keep a person subluxation free all the time whether they have a symptom or not?

You don’t know your sick until you manifest symptoms, and by the time you manifest symptoms the sickness is already well advanced. You must know that when there is a vertebral subluxation, whether you can find symptoms or not, the body is not perfect. The body cannot function perfectly in the presence of a vertebral subluxation. And incidently, a subluxation also interferes with mental health, with spiritual health, with speed, with stamina. What the hell is this linking chiropractic to medical symptoms?

Understand that the way you have been practicing is great. But it could be better. Think, would you like to spend the next year being the way you were last year, or do you really want to get better?

Do you want to get better? Then think about how you personally can get better.

What are you going to do next year to make you a better chiropractor than you were this year? If you can decide that, we have moved everything forward. If you don’t decide that… then, very easily your going to get up next year, your going to do the same damn thing and your going to say “well I’m helping my community” and it’s true, “I’m a good chiropractor” and it’s true. But you could be better.

Get checked every week.
If you and your spouse and your kids wanted to see the chiropractor every week, could you afford to go to you? Because if you can’t, nobody else can either. Maybe we should do something about our fee systems.

Insurance companies will not pay for chiropractic. They never have and they never will. They will pay you instead to give up chiropractic and prostitute yourself by practicing manipulative medicine. They will not pay for chiropractic care. They’ll pay chiropractors to practice something other than chiropractic care… to practice manipulative medicine. And they have all these different codes in their computers… and the chiropractors can then lie about it and say “no, this is a chiropractic case.”

It’s a new century coming up. (2001) Are you going to do the same old thing. Are you going to continue the same old excuses, or are you seriously going to think about what you should be doing?

I am not offering you an easy way out. I am offering you an opportunity to consider doing the right thing. You became a chiropractor to do the right thing, now do it!

Drug Causes Totally Unexplained Deaths

News of an experimental drug called “Lotrafiban” suggests that 122 people have died from taking the drug, according to reports from Nando Media and MSNBC.

According to the reports, the drug was designed to prevent strokes and heart attacks. Researchers involved in the testing of the drug say the 122 deaths are “totally unexplained,” according to the articles.

All those involved in the testing were to be notified to discontinue taking the drug, according to the reports. As well as taking lotrafiban, according to the reports, patients were taking aspirin. None of those in the study died from strokes or heart attacks.
