Start a new holiday tradition, or return this year, and Run the Lights of LIFE. The 5K run starts at 5:00 p.m., just before sunset, and takes in the beautiful campus of Life University during our annual holiday light show. After the run, stay and enjoy the holiday festivities, with caroling, s’mores and hot cocoa, a holiday spirit contest, food and music, and much more, including the Lights of LIFE.

Sherman College of Chiropractic will host the 14th Annual International Research and Philosophy Symposium (IRAPS), a peer-reviewed conference on vertebral subluxation research and the philosophy of chiropractic, in Spartanburg, SC, October 7-8, 2017. Up to 12 hours of continuing education credit are available. The goal of IRAPS is to bring together leaders in philosophy and research as well as practitioners who are centered on the vertebral subluxation practice, to build a stronger academic community worldwide regarding the subluxation model of chiropractic.

Summer 2014 is almost here and there’s plenty of chiropractic events to attend in the warming months to come. Several chiropractic schools hold their homecoming events during the summer months so check with your school and make plans to attend. It’s an effort to close an office down and travel for events, but it’s worth it!

The 2014 CCA Legislative Conference takes place March 25th in Sacramento, CA. Expect a day of grassroots lobbying training, appointments with your legislators, and a CCPAC fundraiser end of day reception. For those planning to arrive early (or stay late) CCA has reserved a block of rooms at The Citizen Hotel in Sacramento.

Parker Seminars recently held its largest chiropractic seminar in Las Vegas, Nevada where doctors of chiropractic, chiropractic students, and chiropractic assistants attended. The seminar included classes in business, techniques, marketing and communications, patient procedures and practice management, science and nutrition, philosophy and inspiration, and training for chiropractic assistants.

Four US chiropractic colleges have sent me news updates for October and November. Sherman College of Chiropractic recently updated a transfer agreement to simplify student admission into the doctor of chiropractic program at Sherman College. Parker University recently appointed Dr. Tim Gross as its vice president of the college of chiropractic. Life University hosted the fifth annual Octagon Conference on the campus in Marietta, Georgia. And the Vice chancellor for research and health policy for Palmer College of Chiropractic has been appointed to the American Medical Association (AMA) convened Physician Consortium for Performance Improvement (PCPI) Measure Advisory Committee (MAC).

October is my birth month, and as every licensed chiropractor in the United States knows, the month of your birth is also the month you better have your chiropractic relicensing complete. I love attending continuing education conferences, so much so, that I’m already planning where I’ll be going to get my 24 hours of continuing education in 2014.

October 2013 is upon us and it’s time for chiropractors to come together for another spectacular chiropractic event before the holidays begin. I’ve attended New Beginnings in Long Branch New Jersey multiple times during the past decade and it’s well worth the trip, even from the West Coast. This year I’ll be in Las Vegas speaking at Pubcon (as I’ve been doing for about seven years now) during the new beginnings weekend, or I’d probably be there myself. The event features nearly all my favorite speakers in chiropractic.

I received an e-mail this morning from a chiropractor that recently graduated chiropractic school and they wanted to know how to post an announcement that they were available for hire. While hundreds of chiropractors and chiropractic associates have posted “chiropractors available” and “chiropractors wanted” to the classifieds, it had not occurred to me that not everyone may know how to go about doing so. This post is intended to help new chiropractors (and those seeking employment) post announcements for chiropractic jobs wanted.

I mentioned earlier this summer that there’s a bunch of chiropractic events and seminars taking place in August and September for 2013. The Life West Wave takes place this weekend in San Francisco California, Schofield Chiropractic Training is taking place in Phoenix on Friday and Saturday, and Dynamic Essentials is taking place in Atlanta. I received information from Parker Seminars and from Dynamic Essentials and wanted to share that here.

Chiropractor Joe Tichio recently authored a book titled Greatest Inspirational Quotes – 365 days to more happiness, success, and motivation. Dr. Joe sent a copy to Planet Chiropractic and I have to say I love the book. It is easy to read and it features quotes that can offer inspiration to nearly anyone.

The League of Chiropractic Women will be hosting a conference in New York City on September 27 and 28th. The event is taking place at the New Yorker Hotel located on 8th Avenue & 34th Street. The conference includes several female chiropractic superstars and it is sure to be pure and powerful. The next Dynamic Essentials is taking place in Atlanta Georgia the first weekend of August, 2013. I attended my first Dynamic Essentials (DE) event when I was a chiropractic student in Los Angeles. Attending DE had a significant impact on my future in chiropractic. To this day, I keep a book “From the Ordinary to the Extraordinary and Chiropractic” by Dr. Sid Williams on my desk, and I reread it regularly. Dynamic Essentials is on my list of must attend chiropractic events for summer 2013. The following comes from the DE staff via e-mail. I’m sharing it to spread the word.

You know it’s summer when local parents all bring their kids in on the same morning for a chiropractic adjustment. While kids are out of school and excited to have some summer fun, chiropractors will be having summer fun of their own, and hopefully including their families on a few chiropractic centered vacations. I have put together a list of summer chiropractic seminars and events that should not be missed. Choose one, or several, and get reconnected with your colleagues.

There are many great opportunities for chiropractors seeking to practice chiropractic throughout the globe. One of the benefits I have at Planet Chiropractic is the opportunity to see what types of advertisements are being posted to our chiropractic classifieds multiple times per day. What chiropractic schools are in Los Angeles? That is a question patients in my office frequently ask. They also want to know where I went to chiropractic school, how much it costs, and how long will it take to graduate. For those that are truly interested, I share as much information as I can to help them find a chiropractic school that is right for them. There are numerous factors to consider when choosing a chiropractic school, I’ve covered that in several previous posts, and I will share several links below. First I want to address the question of Los Angeles and chiropractic schools, let’s begin with a bit of local chiropractic history.

The 2013 CCA Annual Convention & Exposition took place this past weekend in San Diego, California. It was another successful chiropractic event held on the West Coast. The conference attracted a worldwide chiropractic audience for three days of fellowship and continuing education. Chiropractors are shaking things up in the state of California and CCA wants you to join the evolution.

The next Dynamic Essentials will be in Atlanta Georgia the weekend of August 1, 2013. I’ve written numerous times about the importance of attending Dynamic Essentials (DE), I began attending while still a chiropractic student in Los Angeles, in the 1990s. This is a place for chiropractors to be. Flights to Atlanta are easy from nearly every city in the USA, the international airport features numerous direct flights. Continuing education is something all practicing chiropractors in the United States are required to do. Opportunities for continuing education are numerous, with weekend chiropractic seminars taking place (typically near airports) throughout the United States. Like most chiropractors, if it’s the month of my birthday, I will seek out what education is nearby, but for several years now I’ve been getting my hours months in advance. Thanks to Planet Chiropractic Seminars I get to see lists of events taking place across the country, and I’m really glad I chose the green books education class during Sherman Lyceum with Dr. Harold George.

On May 23, 2013, the investiture of chiropractor Edwin Cordero took place on the campus of Sherman College of Chiropractic, during the 40 year anniversary of Sherman Chiropractic Lyceum. The event was held under the big tent on the grounds of the Sherman campus, with chiropractors traveling from as far as Japan and Argentina, to be in attendance.

Life University (LIFE) continues to carry the torch for functional neurology and exploring the relationship between the spine, the nervous system and healthy body function. LIFE University established the Functional Neurology Center (FNC) more than nineteen months ago to conduct research and offer chiropractic functional neurology clinical services to the public. With major figures in professional sports, entertainment and from other walks of life visibly benefiting from this natural approach to health and healing. Life University will vigorously work to continue to develop its Functional Neurology Center with several new initiatives announced by University President Dr. Guy Riekeman this morning.

The Federation of Chiropractic Licensing Boards (FCLB) selected Parker University President Dr. Brian McAulay to present the Annual Joseph Janse Lecture during its 87th Annual Congress Conference held in San Francisco, California May 1-5. Honored as the first Parker representative to present the legendary Joseph Janse Lecture, Dr. McAulay was selected by a committee of the FCLB board. Joseph Janse Lecture speakers are chosen based on their oratory skills, ability to envision future possibilities, and to encourage the audience of regulators to consider new points of view, new perspectives in their approaches to public protection.

In March, the Institute of Alternative Futures (IAF) released its third in a series of futures reports titled Chiropractic 2025: Divergent Futures. The reports forecast potential scenarios in the chiropractic profession in the year 2025. As a part of their findings, the IAF recognized that if the profession of Chiropractic is to thrive by 2025, LIFE will be a chief contributor to the cause through their research, conferences, alumni programs and overall stance for the principles of Chiropractic.

Patients with acute low back pain receiving a combination of chiropractic manipulative therapy and standard medical care experienced a statistically and clinically significant reduction in their back pain and improved physical functioning when compared to those receiving standard medical care alone, reports an article in the April 15 issue of Spine.

Dr. Brian McAulay, president of Parker University, was recently elected as president of the Association of Chiropractic Colleges (ACC) by its board of directors. Dr. McAulay will serve a two-year term as president of ACC, succeeding Dr. Richard Brassard, president of Texas Chiropractic College.

The Dallas Business Journal awarded Parker University as one of the Healthiest Employers in North Texas for the second consecutive year at its annual Healthiest Employers Program. Ranked third in the midsize company category, Parker was recognized for creating a healthy workplace.

A strange thing about human nature is that too often we tend to have a low opinion of ourselves. This low self esteem holds us back; keeping us from realizing our full potential. Though we may hate to admit it, in a variety of ways, we destroy or allow others to destroy our self confidence, Often when a new thought or idea pops into our minds we respond immediately telling ourselves that we can’t do or accomplish that which we desire. If we continue to follow this train of thought long enough we find ourselves in a negative state of mind; never accomplishing all that we are capable of.

I was watching the Pro Bowl today and a comment by one of the announcers reminded me to search Planet Chiropractic for a football related article I wrote a few years ago. In the process of searching news archives, I came across numerous Super Bowl related articles I’ve posted during the past six years or so, and I’ve organized the list of almost everything I found into a single post. The information may or may not be helpful to you, but at least I’ll have a reference for Super Bowl XLVIII.

Chiropractor Sid Williams passed away on December 27, 2012, but his legacy will live on. The January February Dynamic Essentials in Atlanta Georgia is likely going to be a sellout, as chiropractors from around the globe come together to pay tribute to a man that had a profound and significant influence on the chiropractic profession.
