Life University (LIFE) continues to carry the torch for the profession, announcing a nationwide, nine-city tour designed to help the profession help itself. LIFE in Your City is a three day event in each city, and provides elements that will help DCs earn continuing education, allow their patients to hear the chiropractic message from Life University president Dr. Guy Riekeman, and take part in attracting the next generation of chiropractors.

Dynamic Essentials comes to Sarasota Florida on April 26. April temperatures average in the mid 80s for the coastal Florida city and it’s a great location for a chiropractic event. Life University is adding varsity wrestling to its expanding athletics program. The inaugural season will begin with the 2012-2013 season. Life University is only the third college in Georgia to offer varsity wrestling, and will be the first in the metro-Atlanta area. Palmer Chiropractic students donate toys and time to Toys for Tots

Members of the Palmer Student Alumni Foundation (PSAF) spent the last several weeks collecting toys and monetary donations from students, faculty and staff at Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport, Iowa, for this year’s Toys for Tots collection by the United States Marine Corps. Their efforts paid off as they donated nearly $2,000 worth of toys on Dec. 10. In addition, they teamed up with members of the Palmer Campus Guides to volunteer at the Toys for Tots warehouse on Dec. 10.

Parker University Presents Scholarships to Students

DALLAS — Parker University College of Chiropractic recently presented $23,000 in scholarships to 18 students. The scholarships committee comprised of Parker faculty, staff, students, and alumni, select recipients based on anonymous applications, the student’s financial need, academic achievements, character, extracurricular participation, leadership, and more. The students were presented one of six types of scholarships including corporate partner, leadership, alumni, memorial, Parker Alumni Association, and endowment scholarships.

Important Google Health Service Announcement

I received an e-mail recently from the Google Health Service that Google Health will be discontinued as of January 1, 2012. According to the e-mail, after that date, users will no longer be able to access Google Health, and any third-party services that are linked to one’s Google health profiles, will no longer be able to send data to or receive data from those profiles.

Deck the Chiropractic Office with Boughs of Holly

Chiropractic offices all over the world are getting decorated for this year’s holiday season. Not all chiropractors decorate their office for Halloween, and some for pumpkins and other decorations out for Thanksgiving, but most offices will at least have minimal decorations up for Christmas. At ADIO Chiropractic in Los Angeles, we like to go all out. There’s hundreds of feet of colored lights, a Christmas tree that nearly reaches the ceiling, and a 60″ TV playing the season’s best holiday Blu-Ray movies.

Parker University recently held its first annual Mr. and Ms. Parker Fitness Competition. The competition comprised of a strength, endurance, and flexibility performance as well as a posing presentation. 116 Years Since Daniel David Palmer Healed Harvey Lillard

Today’s date marks 116 years since the first chiropractic adjustment was given in Davenport, Iowa. On September 18, 1895, it was Daniel David Palmer (the Father of Chiropractic) making a hands on healing connection and curing a deaf janitor named Harvey Lillard. The Ryan building janitor had been plagued by years of deafness following an injury, and the hands-on thrusting and realignment of spinal vertebrae, provided a miracle today known as a chiropractic adjustment.

Two chiropractic events are taking place in Los Angeles at the end of September, with one being held on the Eastside in Pasadena, and the other on the west side in Culver City, California. Patients thank chiropractors in all kinds of ways. Some show their appreciation by bringing food to the office, others bring gifts, and still many others refer friends and family so that they may also receive chiropractic care. For the chiropractor, it’s not about the receiving, but about the giving, and as I’ve said on these Planet Chiropractic pages many times since 1999, you cannot out give the giver. Ian Grassam called it service, and he said the price was becoming servant to all.

Whether it be getting adjusted to achieve optimal performance, or getting adjusted to recover from stresses and strains put on the body, chiropractic is the way to go for summer sports. As a chiropractor practicing in a beach community, I see a fair share of sun related summer activities, which gets people on adjusting tables for proper spine alignment. This past weekend was no exception, as Southern California chiropractors were hands-on to provide adjustments for amateur and professional men’s and women’s volleyball players at the Corona Light Wide Open event in Hermosa Beach, California.
