Celebration of Life for Guy F. Riekeman, D.C.: A Visionary Leader in Chiropractic
By Michael Dorausch, D.C.
It is with heavy hearts that we at Planet Chiropractic share the news of the passing of Dr. Guy F. Riekeman, a true pillar of the chiropractic profession. Dr. Riekeman, who served as the fourth president of Life University from 2004 to 2017 and later as chancellor until 2020, left us on February 23, 2026, at the age of 76. His legacy of leadership, integrity, and unwavering commitment to vitalistic healthcare will continue to inspire generations.

In the early days of his career, many knew him affectionately as “EZ” Riekeman – a nickname that captured his approachable and energetic spirit. I had the privilege of meeting him very early in my own chiropractic journey, back when I was a student. I remember picking him up and driving him to airports and hotels for various chiropractic seminars. Those rides were more than just transportation; they were opportunities to absorb his wisdom, passion, and vision for the profession. He brought us the power of one and his enthusiasm was infectious.
A second-generation chiropractor and a 1972 graduate of Palmer College of Chiropractic, where he later served as president from 1998 to 2004, Dr. Riekeman’s career spanned over five decades.
He was a master teacher, international speaker, and author of the book Your Extraordinary Life, which encouraged readers to live with purpose and authenticity.
At Life University, his transformational leadership included the 20/20 Vision Plan, which modernized the campus, expanded clinical outreach globally, raised millions for improvements, and drove consistent enrollment growth.
Under his guidance, Life U solidified its position as the world’s largest chiropractic institution and a global thought leader in health sciences.
In a touching tribute, Life University President Dr. Brian McAulay reflected: “Dr. Riekeman was a transformational leader who strengthened our institution’s standing and re-established Life University as a global thought leader. We honor his lasting purpose by continuing to serve others out of our own abundance, just as he taught for over 50 years.”
To honor his remarkable life and contributions, a Celebration of Life service is planned for Sunday, March 15, 2026, from noon to 1:30 p.m. at the Center for Athletics & Sport Health Science TIC Auditorium (SHS Lower Gym) on Life University’s campus in Marietta, Georgia.
This gathering will be a fitting tribute to a man who dedicated himself to empowering others and advancing chiropractic principles.
Dr. Riekeman’s leadership and vision will be deeply missed, but his influence endures in every chiropractor he mentored, every student he inspired, and every life he touched. Rest in peace, EZ – thank you for showing us how to live extraordinarily.
