Active community participation is key to building an empowered community. When it comes to the Planet Chiropractic Classified ad System, participation is not a requirement, but it is critical to community success. For many users of the ad system, participation is equals browsing advertisements, posting ads, contacting buyers and sellers, and basically using the service as it was intended. While that’s great (and we are thankful for the amount of user activity the site receives) I’ve been impressed by the stepped up participation, particularly among sellers of private equipment.
Those that assume ads are viewed only by chiropractors may be forgetting the internet is a big place and ads are viewable by all who choose to search or browse them (ads do appear in search engine results). Community involvement this week was terrific, with several individuals selling office equipment, reporting a fraudulent email attempt within minutes of being contacted. That kind of participation allows us to take action quickly and do what it takes to block further attempts from the same scammer having success in contacting anyone else on the network. I believe active participation will lead to better results, higher levels of volunteerism, and greater community spirit.
Below is one of the forwarded messages received today. We received notice from at least 3 individuals that had items listed and they all involved the same email body and suspicious email address.

Notice how similar the email above is to this one, this one, and this one. When it comes to buying or selling, use common sense and don’t assume everyone that contacts you is a friendly chiropractor intending to enrich your life.
