About Planet Chiropractic

Planet Chiropractic – known for years by its short name PlanetC1 – has been online since December 1998. The site is owned and operated by NearMe Networks, LLC.

A vision from chiropractic school

The idea began in 1996, when chiropractic student Michael Dorausch had a vision for creating an online community for chiropractors, chiropractic students and people interested in chiropractic. Planet Chiropractic launched in December 1998, and it was one of the first chiropractic websites to offer audio interviews, classifieds, an events calendar and articles updated every day (see Chiropractic Domains: From Planet Chiropractic's Roots to a New Marketplace (2025)).

The original 1998 About page said the site “was launched with the intent of connecting more chiropractors with their colleagues and to increase awareness and involvement in the worldwide chiropractic community.” That text is quoted in Looking Back on Planet Chiropractic June 1999 (2009) and Great Opportunities for Chiropractors Wanting to Practice (2013).

Chiropractic news since 1999

The Planet Chiropractic news service began on June 21, 1999 (Planet Chiropractic News Service Begins (June 1999)). Its first anniversary fell on the day Los Angeles celebrated the Lakers' championship (Los Angeles Celebrates its Champions (June 2000)), and the second was marked with A Week of Celebration (June 2001). After September 11, 2001, the site covered chiropractors who helped at Ground Zero (Our American Heroes (October 2001)).

Planet Chiropractic news was included in Google News starting in 2002 (Dynamic Chiropractic Gets News Indexed (2009)). By August 2007, around 70 chiropractic authors, a dozen non-chiropractors and 14 organizations – including three chiropractic colleges and three national associations – had published on the site (Chiropractors and Authors on Planet Chiropractic (2007)). The archive now holds more than 3,000 articles from 1999 to 2026.

Classifieds, events and a directory

Chiropractors have used the Planet Chiropractic classifieds since 1999 to find associates, sell practices and equipment, and fill positions. In June 2007 the site dropped its classified ad fees (Independence Day Comes Early for Chiropractic Classifieds (2007)). More than 21,500 of those ads are kept as Classified Archives, with personal contact details removed.

The events calendar listed close to 4,000 seminars and events between 2001 and 2020 (event archive). New events are now listed on ChiropracticEvents.com. In 2007 the site added local chiropractor search pages for all 50 states (Local Chiropractor Search Pages (2007)), and that work continues today at ChiropractorNearMe.com.

Audio and the PlanetC1 name

Audio was part of the site from the beginning: its multimedia pages describe it as “podcasting since 1998” (Multimedia Pages – Planet Chiropractic (2017)). The short name and address PlanetC1 is explained in Top 10 Search Keyphrases and Website Success (2007).

Today

In 2025 the network added ChiropracticDomains.com, a marketplace for exact-match chiropractic domain names that grew out of Planet Chiropractic's early domain portfolio. It is now the site's lead sponsor. See Our Sites for the whole network, or contact us.
