Chiropractic has a rich history in the state of California, with the founder of chiropractic teachings, DD Palmer, first bringing the philosophy, science and art to the state in the early 1900s. Last month Planet Chiropractic began sharing transcribed text from an audio presentation recorded in February of 1997. The event, which featured legendary chiropractor Ian Grassam was historical, with sellout crowds of attendees converging on a hotel in Orange County California for an annual conference hosted by the oldest chiropractic organization in existence. This is the third installment of transcribed text from Dr. Grassam’s motivational presentation.

This is a continuation of the 1997 presentation by chiropractor, Ian Grassam. It was initially recorded at a chiropractic conference in Orange County California and transcribed from audio to text earlier this year. The initial post is titled: Leadership and Focus with Chiropractor Ian Grassam.

An e-mail from one of my favorite chiropractors practicing in Pennsylvania provided a reminder that chiropractors can’t focus enough on building relationships with one another and developing interprofessional fellowship activities and events. Chiropractors from Pennsylvania, Michigan, Florida, New York, New Jersey, and most recently California, often times host meetups and other related gatherings, so that chiropractors can get together and discuss the things they have in common.

In 1997 I had the good fortune to be the student president for the International Chiropractors Association representing the chiropractic campus at CCCLA in Los Angeles, California. One of the highlights of my involvement in student politics was the times I enjoyed talking with legendary chiropractors like Sid Williams, Bobby Braile, Fred Barge, and James Sigafoose. Philosophical chiropractic was red-hot in the Southern California area in 1997 and 1998 (and it is again today thanks to DCS), with events drawing large crowds of chiropractors focused on a mission of serving the planet.

From as early as last week, to news from the turn-of-the-century, there is often times stories and articles we may have missed that deserve greater attention. But with the growth of social media, RSS feeds, and an abundance of news related web sites, there’s tons of information coming at us from all directions, and we don’t have the time to browse through content from the past. On this website, I’m hoping to make that a little bit easier, with a monthly glimpse into chiropractic news articles from 2000 through to the present. Is not only important to know where we’re going, it’s good to reflect back and know where we came from.
