Confessions of a Life Based Chiropractor

By Shawn Powers, D.C.

When a leader reaches out in passion, he is usually met with an answering passion. – John C. Maxwell

I must confess, I never think of adjusting a spine or a subluxation. The focus of the adjustment is on the expression of that individual, their life, the reconnection, and their soul. I enjoy the privilege of being a chiropractor more with each day that I am alive. We have the opportunity to share our passion with the world so that mankind will understand the relevance of chiropractic in their lives.

One of our practice members who is 4.5 yrs old, is the perfect example of how chiropractic affects a life. When we met her, she was only speaking at the 26-month-old level, testing only in the 60th percentile academically, attending speech therapy, enduring neurological testing, and experiencing social isolation. Now her life is changed. Two months into care she has shown tremendous improvement. Her academic, speech skills, muscle strength, and definition are progressing. She tested in the 150th percentile last week! In addition, her mom shares that all this progress has helped her socially as well.

Every adjustment is a miracle. A nervous system free from subluxation permits an individual’s expression of their innate intelligence, allowing that individual to live to their fullest potential. Amazingly enough, most families do not even know that they need to be checked for subluxation. They do not consider or know that subluxation exists and can be a factor in every aspect of their life.

Ever since I was a little girl, I wanted to help people. This is my passion, making a difference. My passion increases my persistence and desire to serve others and improve myself for whatever God has in store for me. Thank you chiropractic for such an opportunity to serve. It sure beats the way I started as a nurse in ICU, always putting something in or taking something out, and seeing people die most every day.

Success Tips

1. Review your purpose, passion, and intention. You can tell what it is by a few key stats. New people, total volume, referrals, retention, and percentage of family and children you care for.

2. Evaluate the message communicated in your practice. If you want to help more families and change more lives you cannot do it if there are mixed messages. Evaluate everything. What does the paperwork, dialogues, procedures, pamphlets, and posters teach? Are they focused on pain relief and conditions or life?

3. Consider marketing as education. There is a much greater need than there is an awareness of that need. Consider your duty to tell others about chiropractic. Marketing is simply sharing my enthusiasm and passion for an enhanced life through chiropractic.

4. Develop engaging, informative, and entertaining workshops. (If you would like to know more about that, ask me about my Workshop TeleClass.)

Until we meet again, may angels guard and guide you, beauty surround you, love enfold you,and may all God’s blessings be yours. I am yours in guarding the sacred trust.
