Chiropractic Costa Rica and Panama Missions

By Michael Dorausch, D.C.

I was browsing through some web pages on Planet Chiropractic today and I came across a half a dozen pages that had links to photos that were taken during chiropractic missions to Panama and Costa Rica from May and October of 2000. Spanish chiropractic

All the pages are grouped together and if you want to browse through the images you can view the main page here… Chiropractic mission to Panama February 2004

There are five pages of indexed image thumbnails which link to photos from a CREW chiropractic mission to Costa Rica in 2000, and pages of image thumbnails for one of the many chiropractic missions to Panama.

We decided to keep the pages for historical archive purposes so others can view the estimated 200 photographs from this set that are available from those missions. Images are actually still captures taken from a Sony VX-1000 handheld digital camcorder. Amazing how image technology has changed in the last seven years. Looking at some of the photos now they really bring back some memories. The first page of the image archives shows photographs taken in a civic gymnasium in Panama City, Panama. There are some photos towards the top of the page showing the lines of people waiting to get into the gymnasium for chiropractic care.

You can check out some of these thumbnails to view those images directly…

Hundreds of chiropractors participated in CREW (Chiropractors Restoring Energy Worldwide) missions from 1997 through 2004. Chiropractors traveled from the United States, Canada, Spain, Australia, and other parts of the world to provide free chiropractic care to the people of Panama and Costa Rica during these very successful missions.

There are 15 to 20 related news articles in the chiropractic archives and you can access most of them from here: News Search Panama

“The Masters in the art of living make little distinction between their work and their play, their labor and their leisure, their minds and their religion. They simply pursue their vision of excellence at what ever they do, leaving others to decide whether they are working or playing. To them, they are always doing both.” – James Mitchner

  1. Any missions planned? Will you be posting news about Panama or Costa Rica anytime soon?

  2. I would like to find out more info on chiropractic schools in costa rica. Can any one help ?

  3. Jason,
As far as I know there are currently no chiropractic schools or programs in Costa Rica. Many of the chiropractors that practice in Costa Rica attended school in the United States, and moved there after graduation.

  4. in8lover,
I’m not aware of any missions planned for Panama or Costa Rica at this time. I did recently speak to someone who would like to organize a chiropractic mission to Panama in 2008. No news on that event yet.

  5. I am very interested in attaining information on any scheduled or in the works mission in Panama for 2008. Also if you could direct me to a contact for any type of mission group pertaining to chiropractic that would be greatly appreciated.

  6. Dr. Montes,
There are chiropractic mission trips to El Salvador and to Peru that are done through Life West Chiropractic College. Dr. Shawn Dill would be a good contact who is on staff at the school. If not, I’m sure someone at the school could guide you to the right guy. just go to http://www.lifewest.edu. Hope this helps.

  7. hello the comment by i guess its matt leonard is totally incorrect
life west has no mission trips set up for students and as far as i am will never have any as long as dr clum is president of lifewest
dr clum is a fantasic person please he is the greatest but i believe he is just opposed to mission trips for students and the key work here is students i have lead and still mission trips all over the world and spoke with d clum personally about this several times and he is not in favor of them if anyone knows different please tell me thanks [email protected]

  8. Life West does do “mission trips” every single year. This year we are going to El Salvador and Ghana in June. Dr. Clum is not opposed to mission trips as long as they are done right. By being done right we mean going into the country with full recognition and permission from the proper authorities and taking along only students who are deemed “clinic eligible” by the college.
