Memorial Day Federal and Postal Holidays

Get your banking done today or Saturday since banks will be closed on Memorial Day 2009. Is your bank open on Sunday? I know some credit unions are open on Sundays but not of the banks I use are open. Monday is also a Postal Holiday, so don’t expect service from the USPS, FedEx or UPS on Memorial Day. LA Marathon Excitement Heating Up

The 2009 Los Angeles Marathon is scheduled for Memorial Day Monday, which is one week from today. Many local runners are hoping June gloom arrives a little bit early, bringing with it a marine layer and cooler temperatures throughout the Southland. Having been a runner in Los Angeles for the past decade, we’re reaching that time of year where running in the afternoon is a bit more taxing on the body, than it’s been in the months since October. With a marathon start time of around 7:20 AM, it’s going to be a race to the finish line, hopefully before the sun brings the heat upon Los Angeles.

San Francisco 2009 Bay to Breakers Results and Photos

The world wackiest road race took place today in San Francisco, with Kenya’s 22-year-old Sammy Kitwara, crushing an existing record for the San Francisco Bay to Breakers 12K race. Kitwara ran the 12 kilometer distance in a time of 33:31 with an average running pace of 4:30, beating all previous records in the 98-year-old San Francisco foot race. ING did a terrific job with this year’s 2009 Bay to Breakers event, and lots of photos have already appeared online, thanks to Twitter and photo sharing sites like Flickr.

2009 Green Bay Marathon

It’s marathon weekend in Green Bay, and with a record number of runners already signed up for race day, the Green Bay Marathon 2009 is looking like a spectacular running event. Besides the 26.2 mile marathon, there is a half marathon, as well as a 5K event. Registration for the half marathon is officially closed, with an estimated 4000 participants registered. It’s the 10th annual Cellcom Green Bay Marathon, which begins and ends at the famous Lambeau Field.
