One Flu Over the Coo Koo’s Nest
Is there a flu vaccine shortage in the U.S. or are medics and vaccine makers just full of chicken poop? Take a look at the following news headlines, both appearing on the same date.
Headline One: Flu shot shortage impeding hospitals — Emergency plan saves vaccine for people in high-risk groups
Headline Two: UK elderly not taking free flu vaccinations
The first article opens with the warning, “get your flu shot before it’s too late” and states that this year there is not enough vaccine to go around.
According to the article, the CDC is “putting an emergency plan in place” in preparation of this years flu season.
An interesting side note, the article states that: “for reasons no one understands, one of this year’s strains, called A/Panama, has not grown well.”
The UK article paints the same picture but uses a different approach. According to a survey “nearly 4 million elderly people do not plan to take up the government’s offer of free influenza vaccinations” which may lead to a crisis, the article states.
Notice the UK mentions no shortage of flu vaccine, they can’t even give the stuff away. According to an article on Yahoo News, 33% of elderly people surveyed said that they were worried about the side effects of vaccination and would not accept a free flu vaccine. Another 33% said they would “get over it”, if they did get the flu, according to the article.
What’s the deal and what’s the truth? Are the poison pushers resorting to fear and lies in order to vaccinate more people? What does it say when thirty-three percent of people surveyed state that they are concerned about the side effects of flu vaccination?
