Too Blessed to be Stressed

I saw a license plate the other day that just got stuck in my head it said, "Too Blessed to be Stressed". I like it. I've also heard another expression that has really made a difference in the way I think. It is said that we have to live life on life's terms. Life isn't supposed to work out exactly how we think it should because we are not the pilot, only the co-pilot.

I saw a license plate the other day that just got stuck in my head it said, “Too Blessed to be Stressed”. I like it. I’ve also heard another expression that has really made a difference in the way I think. It is said that we have to live life on life’s terms. Life isn’t supposed to work out exactly how we think it should because we are not the pilot, only the co-pilot. When life doesn’t turn out the way I think it should than I have to accept the circumstances and separate out my actions and what decisions are mine to make and make them. I can’t make other people’s decisions or be responsible for them. That is a huge relief. I can only be responsible for my actions. I need to make decisions by playing out the intended results of my actions before I choose. I also need to listen to my gut too. My gut is usually right and I get in a lot of trouble when I ignore that “hunch.”

In trying to make a decision I often don’t get a hunch when a decision is a good decision but I surely get that hunch when I know that my decision is not right. It takes discipline and trust to act on those gut feelings. It definitely takes a measure of faith. As my faith grows then it gets easier to listen to that God within. I watch the evidence as those innate decisions turn out to be some of my best decisions and I take time every day to quiet myself so I can listen to that inner voice.

I also heard it said that expectations are pre-meditated resentments. As my faith grows then my expectations soften. Stress is a result of my expectations not being met and me not being able to accept things as they are today. To accept today is not to say that I am not going to make decisions that might effect the outcomes in my life but that acceptance allows today be what today is and it makes it safe for me to see what is clearly and decide what changes that I can make. The stress decreases when I acknowledge that I am not in charge of the world.

Now about being blessed. I am and you are too. Focus on the blessings. More good comes from what we focus on. It is hard for me to feel sorry for myself at the same time that I am focusing on my blessings and that is a huge blessing in itself. “Too Blessed to be Stressed.”
