LA Marathon 2009 Results and Photos

It’s Marathon Monday in Los Angeles. This morning, fifteen thousand runners took to the streets of downtown Los Angeles, on a marathon course that ran through LA, on a 26.2 mile route back into downtown Los Angeles, with a finish line at 5th Street & Flower Street. Hundreds of thousands of cheering fans lined the streets as 2009 Los Angeles Marathon participants passed by, making their way downhill and then uphill (2009 LA Marathon course is fairly fast and flat), through neighborhoods and business districts, experiencing mild LA temperatures, and relying on both internal and external motivation, as they reached the homestretch, and finally the finish.

San Francisco 2009 Bay to Breakers Results and Photos

The world wackiest road race took place today in San Francisco, with Kenya’s 22-year-old Sammy Kitwara, crushing an existing record for the San Francisco Bay to Breakers 12K race. Kitwara ran the 12 kilometer distance in a time of 33:31 with an average running pace of 4:30, beating all previous records in the 98-year-old San Francisco foot race. ING did a terrific job with this year’s 2009 Bay to Breakers event, and lots of photos have already appeared online, thanks to Twitter and photo sharing sites like Flickr.
