Palmer Center for Chiropractic Research to begin study on low back pain

Researchers at the Palmer Center for Chiropractic Research (PCCR) clinic facility, 741 Brady St., Davenport, on the campus of Palmer College of Chiropractic, are looking for more than 200 people with low back pain in the Quad-City community to participate in a unique study. It focuses on the relationship between back pain and possible abnormal function of the supportive muscles in the back. The study begins January 12. Participants must have low back pain and be between 21 and 65 years of age.

Earlier this month, the National Center for Complementary and Alternative Medicine and the National Center for Health Statistics released findings on the use of complementary and alternative medicine by people in the US. The findings came from a 2007 National Health Interview Survey, with information gathered from more than 23,000 adults aged 18 and older and over 9000 children age 17 and younger. Daschle to get Health and Human Services nod from Obama

Former Senator Tom Daschle will be announced Thursday as President-elect Barack Obama’s nominee to head up the Department of Health and Human Services, according to Democratic sources. It has been previously reported that the former US South Dakota Senator would be Obama’s choice, but an announcement date had not been set. Daschle has reportedly stated he is excited about the possibility of serving a role in health care leadership, assisting Obama’s efforts to change the nation’s health-care system.
