Palmer College of Chiropractic Receives National Recognition

The National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA) announced in October that the Palmer Academic Health Center and the Campus Health Center clinics on the Palmer College of Chiropractic campus at 1000 Brady St., Davenport, Iowa, have received Recognition from the Back Pain Recognition Program (BPRP) for providing superior care to clinic patients suffering from low back pain. According to the NCQA registry, these Palmer College clinics and their respective faculty clinicians are the only healthcare facilities and providers in Iowa to receive BPRP recognition.

Palmer’s Florida Campus to Construct Third Building

The Florida Campus of Palmer College of Chiropractic is growing… again. The Palmer College Board of Trustees approved a plan in September to construct a two-story, 14,000-square-foot building with a budget of $4 million on the Port Orange campus, located at 4777 City Center Parkway. The new building will significantly expand support services for the campus’ nearly 750 students. Construction is expected to begin in early 2011, following approvals by the City of Port Orange.

Palmer College administrator named to national Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute

One of the provisions in the nation’s new health law, the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act of 2010, authorizes the creation of an autonomous Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute (PCORI) as a nonprofit corporation that is not “an agency or establishment of the U.S. Government.” In an announcement today by the U.S. Government Accountability Office, Palmer College of Chiropractic’s Vice Chancellor for Research and Health Policy Christine Goertz, D.C., Ph.D., was appointed to the Board of Governors of PCORI.

Dr Robert Percuoco Selected to Lead Palmer College Academics

Palmer College of Chiropractic Chancellor Dennis Marchiori, D.C., has announced the selection of Robert “Bucky” Percuoco, D.C., Long Grove, Iowa, as Vice Chancellor for Academics (VCA) for the College. Dr. Percuoco was identified from a pool of 12 local and national candidates for the position. As VCA, Dr. Percuoco will oversee all matters of academic affairs on each of the three campuses and will also serve as a member of the College’s Executive Administrative Team. Palmer’s campuses are located in Davenport, Iowa, San Jose, Calif., and Port Orange, Florida.
