Rumors have been circulating for quite some time now that Van Halen would be reuniting with David Lee Roth in the near future. As it turns out, the rumors are true.

Van Halen officially announced on their web site yesterday (February 2, 2007) that the band would be reuniting with Diamond Dave (David Lee Roth) for a 2007 North American summer tour.

This author has not attended a Van Halen concert since a Madison Square Garden appearance in New York City, back in the early 1980s. Van Halen’s announcement to reunite with David Lee Roth and tour America is a mammoth event, to say the least.

Specific dates have not yet been named but the band is planning to do a 40 city tour of the country. It will be the first time since 1984 that David Lee Roth will be performing on the road with the band. Eddie Van Halen’s son Wolfgang (age 15) will be replacing original bass guitarist Michael Anthony. Van Halen is expected to be inducted into the Rock ‘n Roll Hall of Fame at a ceremony in New York on March 12, 2007.

The band’s 1978 debut release, titled Van Halen, is regarded by many as a milestone in the Rock ‘n Roll music industry. With the release of their first album, the band hit the Rock ‘n Roll scene like a sledgehammer. It was if overnight Eddie Van Halen’s now infamous intro guitar solo, titled eruption, spread across the nation and then the world.

The Van Halen sound was unique and the band established themselves as the leaders of the US hard rock scene of the early 1980s. Millions of kids picked up guitars with the desire to learn to play like Eddie.

Van Halen released 11 studio albums from 1978 through 1998. Every record released broke the top 20 spot on Billboards top 200 music chart. According to the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) Van Halen is on the list of Top Selling Artists of all time, holding position number 19, having sold more than 56 million albums in the United States.

Van Halen is among the seven rock groups that have had two records sell more than 10 million copies in the United States. The first was their self-titled debut and the other was their new years eve release (which had a huge MTV debut) titled 1984. The other six bands to sell two records at sales of more than 10 million copies are the Beatles, Eagles, Led Zeppelin, AC/DC, Def Leppard, and Pink Floyd.

A tour like this for the veteran rock and rollers is going to require intense stamina and optimal physical as well as emotional health for all band members and crew. Many of today’s chiropractors grew up listening to the rock ‘n roll sounds of this Mega rock ‘n roll act and I’m sure we can locate at least one in each of the 40 cities that would volunteer to be on hand to ensure Van Halen is in top condition for each performance. There is a possibility that the band will tour with their own chiropractor, but if that’s not the case, it’s best to be prepared for the summer events.

We at Planet Chiropractic want to congratulate the Van Halen family and David Lee Roth on their decision to reunite for the 2007 tour. Bring the trucks, the tour buses, the stacks of amplifiers, the M&M’s (no brown ones please), and all the personnel you’ll need. We’ll bring the chiropractors.

Hey Van Halen… were glad to see you’re back!
