Early Saturday morning, May 19, professional golfer Bob Gilder was thinking of withdrawing from the Regions Charity Classic due to back problems he was having. According to news articles, the 56 year old, nine time winner on the 50 and over tour, was feeling very skeptical about golfing on Saturday, having concerns about his back.

Rather than withdrawing, Gilder made the decision to visit a chiropractor that was at the course, getting much-needed chiropractic care.

That afternoon, Gilder took the second round lead in the classic tournament, shooting 6 under 66, which included making long putts for eagle and birdie on two of the final three holes. He played a great round of golf, leading after two rounds, something he has not done since winning the Constellation Energy Classic in August 2005.

Bob Gilder has won six tournaments in his PGA Tour career and he’s had nine wins on the Champions Tour.

PGA Tour wins: 1976 (1) Phoenix Open, 1980 (1) Canadian Open, 1982 (3) Byron Nelson Golf Classic, Manufacturers Hanover Westchester Classic, Bank of Boston Classic, 1983 (1) Phoenix Open

Champions Tour wins: 2001 (2) Verizon Classic, Senior Tour Championship, 2002 (4) SBC Senior Open, FleetBoston Classic, Allianz Championship, Kroger Senior Classic, 2003 (1) Emerald Coast Classic, 2005 (1) Constellation Energy Classic, 2006 (1) Constellation Energy Classic

I didn’t get the name of the chiropractor that provided care for Bob on Saturday, but I’ve been told that there is a chiropractor on nearly all professional golf circuits these days.

Planet Chiropractic would like to recognize and say thank you to sports reporters worldwide that have been bringing the news of chiropractic care for professional sports athletes to the public. As a chiropractor, I see people participating in all kinds of sports and know the importance of receiving regular chiropractic care so that athletes can maintain and maximize performance. It’s nice when the news is coming from those that are utilizing chiropractic care and talking about the benefits they have received. We know the message would not be getting out there without the assistance of reporters covering their stories.

Congratulations to Bob Gilder and thanks for telling the world about your chiropractic experience!
