Classified advertising is growing all over the Internet, thanks to features online marketplace web sites are offering, such as ease-of-use, RSS syndication, localization, and user generated management of content.

While classified advertising bohemeths like Myspace, Craigslist, and Yahoo! classifieds, are all experiencing growth, niche industries focused on vertical markets are watching more ads move online as well. Back in August of 07′, Dr. Michael Dorausch wrote about the newspaper industry ads decline, and he demonstrated how niche industry web sites, such as Planet Chiropractic, are benefiting from advertising dollars moving online.

This chiropractic web site has been providing classified advertising since 1999, and participation by users has significantly been on the rise since just the end of summer. Two particular sections of the classified pages that have been volcanic are the Chiropractor Practices For Sale section and the Associates section.

For those not familiar with the terminology, associates are typically doctors of chiropractic that work in the office of another chiropractor. Some are paid by salary, some associates received hourly pay, and some work on a percentage basis. Chiropractors seeking jobs in other offices may focus on performing new patient exams or developing x-rays, they may be responsible for handling overflow of existing patients in a practice, or they may work as an individual (and sometimes with another) chiropractor in something known as satellite office. A satellite office is typically a secondary chiropractic office often found within a 25 mile range of the primary practice.

Currently, there are more than 275 active job related advertisements in the associates section. The majority are posted by chiropractic offices seeking to hire chiropractors to work in their practices. Cities and states that posted recent job listings include: the city of Kenner in Louisiana, the city of Louisville in Kentucky, Sun City West in Arizona, the city of Portage in Michigan, and the city of Morgantown in West Virginia. While not every city and the US has listings, nearly every state in the US is represented with at least one classified ad where a doctor of chiropractic is desired as an addition to a practice.

The businesses for sale section has been on a continual rise since July of 2007, and there’s been more than a hundred new offices listed for sale since that time. Business for sale listings involve a wide range of locations such as: Columbus Ohio, Kansas City Missouri, San Antonio Texas, Baltimore Maryland, Carefree Arizona, Gulf Coast Texas, Staten Island New York, and Beaumont Texas.

Like all other sections of the classified ad pages, listing chiropractic clinics for sale on the web site is free. Currently, it is free to post classified ads, browse classified ads, syndicate classified advertising using RSS feeds, and it’s even free to subscribe to auto notification services, which provide subscribers with e-mails when advertisements are posted that fit preselected descriptions.

As with all classified advertising web sites, users are informed to be on the lookout for potential fraud and scams. The chiropractic community has been doing a sensational job in quickly reporting questionable activity to administers of the web site. Even with the best of communication in place, users are urged to continue be on the lookout for potentially fraudulent activities. There have been a number of posts made regarding questionable e-mail solicitations, that those posting classifieds have received. Those posts include topics such as: spotting fraud nervo-scope ad, X-Ray Equipment For Sale Attempted Fraud, and table scams.

There is also a classified blog section which includes a number of posts related to scams, best practices, proper ways to localize listings, and other related topics. Big thank you’s to those posting advertisements, people browsing advertisements, and those interacting with each other on the web site. While we’re continuing to improve on features, we are pleased that the classified pages have been beneficial to so many engaged in the field of chiropractic.
