Children at Risk

Medical Mistakes More Serious for Children

According to articles in yesterdays Yahoo News and ABCNews.com, a new study finds that, “Nearly one out of every 17 medications ordered by doctors for infants and children in the hospital is incorrect.”

According to one article, researchers suggest that until medication errors can be routinely prevented, parents need to be much more vigilant about the care their children receive in hospitals. Parents should be aware of all the drugs a child is taking, along with the doses and schedule of those drugs.

A doctor in one of the articles states, “The parent needs to be aware that hospitals are dangerous places.”

Parents should be much more vigilant about their child’s healthcare whether it includes hospital care or not. A focus on one’s health can help to keep one out of hospitals and away from dangerous drugs.
