A Holistic Health Care Organization Worth Supporting

With all the popularity of chiropractic care for headaches, back pain, and neck pain, the general public often misses out on care that addresses the needs of children and their families. We see the television reports regarding research studies showing upper cervical chiropractic care for the lowering of blood pressure, we hear testimonials from world class and Olympic athletes as to the benefits of them receiving regular chiropractic adjustments, we can even view online videos of TV hosts like Montel Williams giving testimonials on chiropractic care for conditions such as multiple sclerosis, but let's not forget the kids.

The International Chiropractic Pediatric Association (ICPA), a non-profit organization of chiropractic family practitioners, is dedicated to advancing public awareness and attainment of the chiropractic family wellness lifestyle. I’ve been working with the ICPA for several years now and it’s no secret that I’m a big supporter of their movement and mission.

This past weekend I was in Dana Point California (for a poker tournament fundraiser), and I had an opportunity to discuss what’s been going on in the world of chiropractic pediatrics, with ICPA executive director, Dr. Jeannie Ohm.

I’ve written before about the growth this international chiropractic pediatric association has continued to go through and I’m happy to say they haven’t slowed down since.

The organizations Pathways magazine continues to educate and inspire. Autism activists Jenny McCarthy and Jim Carrey are featured in the fall issue. I was pleased to see education for chiropractic care and children being provided to all attendees at the weekends autism fundraiser event. Turns out the ICPA is regularly involved in events such as this, getting the message of wellness outside of the chiropractic box, and embracing groups and like-minded individuals such as moms raising kids naturally, midwives, doulas, and holistic pediatric practitioners.

Performing a brief search through planet chiropractic news archives I located ICPA related articles on topics such as infant sleep positions and SIDS, articles discussing chiropractic and pregnancy for greater comfort and safer births, news regarding pediatric research studies and kids receiving chiropractic care, and articles discussing chiropractic adjustments in the reduction of nervous system stress.

The ICPA is growing strong, and they continue to maintain a 501-C3 status, meaning all donations made to the organization are tax-deductible. Chiropractors are welcomed to visit their web site at www.icpa4kids.com and parents can learn more about chiropractic care for kids (as well as locating pediatric chiropractic practitioners) by visiting www.icpa4kids.org.
