Classic Planet Chiropractic Ad Banners

Back in the days before Google adsense existed (almost hard to imagine) we ran an internal banner network on Planet Chiropractic. While cleaning out site directories, I recently came across hundreds of chiropractic themed banners, several of which were created in the 1990s. The days of running internal advertising networks are not over, but I doubt any of these banners would ever be put to use again. I’m sharing a bunch of them for purely historical purposes.

Get the Big IdeaGet the Big Idea 468×60 Banner

A 468×60 banner for “the big idea” chiropractic VHS tape. Most of the ads that ran on the network were of this size. While today it’s common for chiropractic coaching and marketing companies to run banner ads, it was a cutting edge practice in the late 1990s.

Planet Chiropractic Audio OnlinePlanet Chiropractic Audio Online

Something else that was considered cutting edge in the 1990s was streaming audio and video over the Internet. Nearly all the audio was free, but chiropractors could also order CDs (and even cassette tapes) of talks by their favorite chiropractors like James Sigafoose and Reggie Gold.

Dynamic Essentials Chiropractic SeminarsDynamic Essentials Chiropractic Seminars

Dynamic Essentials (mostly held in the states of Georgia and Florida) was one of the first conference series purchasing banner advertisements on the Planet Chiropractic advertising network. Many doctors of chiropractic used the term “DE” when referring to Dynamic Essentials seminars. There are still DE events taking place today, but they are not the size that they were in the late 1990s. At that time, Dynamic Essentials was the biggest thing in chiropractic.

Sigafoose Audio ContentSigafoose Audio Content

Undeniably the most popular audio being downloaded from Planet Chiropractic in the late 1990s featured James Sigafoose, a regular speaker at Parker Seminars, and many other chiropractic events. I once traveled from Los Angeles to a rural town in Pennsylvania to record a patient education talk put on by Sigafoose. I have that talk converted to MP3 format and should get posted here, I will look around for it.

468x60 trick-or-treat banner advertisement468×60 trick-or-treat banner advertisement

Remember animated gif files? The banner ad for chiropractic tattoos shown above is a good example of themed animated banner advertisements we ran in those early days. There was a time when nearly every site had animated banner ads, nowadays most of those advertisements are delivered via flash.

Schofield Chiropractic TrainingSchofield Chiropractic Training

Another popular advertiser beginning around 2002 was Schofield Chiropractic Training with Susan and Dr. Fred Schofield. Monthly seminars for Schofield Chiropractic Training can still be viewed today on the chiropractic seminar pages. Perhaps one day we will see the return of an internal advertising network on Planet Chiropractic, but these days it’s easier to utilize third-party applications. Here’s a few other ads from the past…

There’s hundreds more advertisements in all shapes and sizes but the 468×60 size was certainly the most popular. These types of ads are a thing of the past, but it’s crazy that more than a decade later the same size ad formats are used. The more things change the more they stay the same.

Georgia Council of Chiropractic 31st Annual Convention and Expo

By Michael Dorausch, D.C.

There is often many chiropractic conferences and seminars for doctors of chiropractic in the United States to choose from when it comes to getting continuing education. There’s less conferences that provide discussions of principled chiropractic, along with other topics chiropractors are passionate about. One such conference is the 31st Annual Georgia Council of Chiropractic Annual Convention and Exposition. The event takes place July 27th and 29th, 2012 at the Mall of Georgia Conference Center.

I was notified by e-mail of this year’s annual conference. Weatherwise, late July might not be the absolute best time to visit Atlanta Georgia but I can’t have ever had a bad time hanging out with chiropractors in the Georgia area. For local chiropractors this is a terrific time of year for an annual conference, especially since many kids will be out of school, and chiropractors can bring their families along with them for a long weekend.

The event is billed as Principled Chiropractic – Adjusting The Future and from the names I see on the speakers list that’s exactly what I expect chiropractors are going to get. Again, the event is July 27-29, 2012 at the Mall of Georgia Conference Center.

Up to 24 hours chiropractic continuing education hours are available. Continuing education hours are being offered in a two or three day format. There is a super saver discount but I always recommend chiropractors call directly and get complete details on event registration. Seminar fees often differ for organization member chiropractors versus nonmembers, or chiropractors from out-of-state, so it’s always best to call.

Registration phone number is 678-667-4567 information about the Georgia Chiropractic 31st Annual Convention and Expo is posted on the chiropractic seminar pages as well.

Complete Three-Day Program: 24 CE hours to choose from, or get your 20 required hours on Saturday and Sunday only with our 2 day express track option. Bring the family too, they’ll need the whole weekend to visit all the stores in and around the mall.

Principled chiropractic adjusting the future! Chiropractors and other speakers for this conference include Dr. Christopher Kent, Dr. Matt Alvord, Keith Wassung, Dr. Matt McCoy, Dr. Louis Briegel, Dr. Cathy Wendland-Colby, Dr. Brian Lieberman, Dr. Brad Pizza and more.

2012 Octagon Conference on Health Reform at Life University

Life Chiropractic News

Marietta, Georgia — The Octagon, a think-tank and policy oriented center at Life University, Marietta, Georgia will host its fourth annual conference entitled “Reimagining Health Care: Making Health the Goal” April 12-14, 2012. This year’s conference will focus on health care reform and the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA) according to the Director of the Octagon, Gerard W. Clum, D.C.

Life Octagon 2012
The three-day meeting will bring nationally known and respected leaders from the worlds of politics, business, law, health policy and health care. The keynote speakers will include Dee Edington, Ph.D., professor of Movement Science, University of Michigan-the godfather of worksite related health and wellness efforts, Mr. Andy Webber, president of the National Business Coalition on Health (NBCH) with membership reflecting an employee base of over 25 million, Clem Bezold, Ph.D., Chairman and Senior Futurist from the Institute for Alternative Futures (IAF), Ms. Deborah Senn, former Insurance Commissioner, State of Washington considered by many consumer groups to have been the “best insurance commissioner in the country” and Mr. Greg Etzel of King & Spalding Law, Houston, Texas a noted national lecturer on the changing landscape of federal funding for healthcare.

Another dozen speakers, including Life University president, Dr. Guy Riekeman, will round out the program addressing everything from the recent Supreme Court arguments related to the PPACA legislation to the development of the basic benefits package to the refinement of the delivery systems such as Accountable Care Organizations (ACOs) and Patient Centered Medical Homes (PCMHs). On Saturday, April 14 the program attendees and the presenters will come together in a series of policy review and development sessions seeking to distill recommendations toward further policy change and program enhancement.

“In general people think they know more about health care reform and the PPACA legislation than they really do as most consumers and healthcare providers have been informed about the legislation by various interest groups.” Noted the Octagon’s Gerard W. Clum, D.C. “This conference offers anyone from a consumer interested in the future of health care to those providing care to business leaders helping to fund care a more complete and thorough understanding of the elements of reform” added Clum.

The conference has garnered the support of many organizations and groups ranging from educational institutions such as the University of Bridgeport, Bridgeport, CT, Cleveland Chiropractic College, Overland, KS, Life Chiropractic College West, Hayward, CA and Bastyr University, Kenmore, WA to policy oriented agencies such as the Integrated Healthcare Policy Institute (IHPC). The program is also being supported by the Congress of Chiropractic State Associations (COCSA), the International Chiropractors Association (ICA), the American Chiropractic Association (ACA), the National Chiropractic Mutual Insurance Company (NCMIC) and Activator Methods, Inc.

2012 CCA Annual Convention and Exposition with Parker Seminars

By Michael Dorausch, D.C.

May is definitely a great time to be visiting San Diego in Southern California. This year the California Chiropractic Association (CCA) has teamed up with Parker Seminars to put on the 2012 CCA Annual Convention & Exposition. The three day conference takes place at San Diego’s Paradise Point Resort & Spa, a 44 acre beach island resort. I’m looking forward to seeing presentations by several great chiropractors and I’m excited to see colleagues again.

CCA Chiropractors California Convention 2011
CCA Chiropractors at 2011 Convention

While it was fun going to Reno Nevada for the 2010 CCA Convention and the 2011 CCA Convention, the Paradise Point Beach Resort is a great location for a chiropractic conference, especially if you’re bringing family.

The Planet Chiropractic continuing education seminar pages also have details about the 2012 CCA Annual Convention & Exposition San Diego. The event is a joint effort between CCA and Parker Seminars, I expect it’s going to be a terrific event, even if you have to sit in the room through much of the day getting your continuing education credits.

CCA has been providing free CE seminars for a few years now, the exhibitor sponsored event has been a great success. CCA members can get free continuing education credits as long as they prepay with a credit card and call the CCA to register. CCA member chiropractors can call (916) 648-2727 ext. 141 or 120 to get registered. I’m not certain how many hours of continuing education is available, make sure you ask the CCA. For chiropractors that are not members of the CCA you will want to contact Parker Seminars at 888-727-5338 to get registered for this event.

Registration is open at 7 AM on Friday morning (May 4, 2012) and opening remarks from the president of Parker University, Dr. Fabrizio Mancini, will be made around 8:30 AM. I believe Friday goes until 7:30 PM. There’s the after dinner activities taking place throughout the beach resort. Many of the chiropractors I know like to stay out late talking the Tic on conference evenings.

While the 2010 and 2011 CCA events in Reno had the convenience of a massive Three Nations Plaza Wal-Mart located on the property across the street, the Paradise Point Beach Resort is located on an island, so maybe plan ahead and bring some snacks with you. One great feature about the San Diego location hotel is the ability to park your vehicle directly in front of your room. I like to run in the early mornings when I’m doing continuing education, since I’m sitting in the room the remainder of the day. I’ll probably pack a cooler with beverages and snacks so I can rehydrate and fuel up in time to get back to classroom sessions.

The CCA says they have a prepaid lunch option as well. The conference PDF reads: You are “on your own” for lunch. However CCA and Parker are offering a healthy “to go” lunch option on Friday and Saturday. This deli-style lunch is partially sponsored by Pharmax and LiteCure Medical, therefore discounted tickets are available for purchase. Pre-paid lunch tickets will be included in your welcome packet to be picked up at the Event Registration Desk.

I’ve eaten at both the waterfront Barefoot Bar & Grill and the Tropics Bar & Grill (mostly for snacks and drinks), located at the resorts main pool. There are some great restaurants in local San Diego for those of you going out in the evening. The beach atmosphere is totally relaxing, it should be a great weekend for chiropractors and their families.

Confirmed chiropractors that are speaking include Fabrizio Mancini, James Chestnut, Jeanne Ohm (Connecting Kids and Chiropractic), Jeff Spencer (Treating Sports Injuries), Gene Orlowsky, Miles Bodzin, Patricia McLean, Mitch Mally, Rick Markson, Tracy Wilson (The Family Wellness Practice), Curt Hamilton, Troy Dukowitz, Eric Plasker, Brad Glowaki (Creating Marketing Venues to Tell the Chiropractic Story), Leslie Hewitt, Jason Deitch (How to Turn Facebook Into Your Own Automatic New Patient Referral Machine), Gerry Clum, Frank Sovinsky, Mark Charrette, James Carter and more.

See you in San Diego California on May 4, 2012!
