It’s 6:00 am Sunday morning, the day I usually sleep until 8:00 am but my body won’t let me sleep. I went to Wonders of Chiropractic gathering yesterday and my mind has been spinning ever since. There were so many students and recent grads there. Their eyes were full of fire, anticipation and fear. Sitting on the edge of their seats waiting for someone to tell them that magical piece of information to get their chiropractic future off on the right foot. They have no idea how powerful they already are. By surrounding themselves with like minded chiropractors, mentors, they have already started to build a great unbreakable chiropractic foundation.

One of the students spoke of the rejection of a friend whose child needs chiropractic care (as we know all children do). But this particular child has been suffering so Joseph was telling them the chiropractic story and they wanted no part of it. He was crushed, feeling he hadn’t done enough. I told him as I am going to tell all of you now; there is always that chance of rejection. I’m sure we all experience it on a weekly, if not daily basis within our offices. People come in for care because someone told them they should be there. You can tell by their attitude and their body language that they don’t want to be within 10 miles of our reception area. Obviously someone loved them enough to know that by walking though our doors their life would change. And it doesn’t always happen immediately, there may be many layers that have to be stripped off before they can begin to heal.

When Joseph told the chiropractic story to his friends I know he put all his heart and soul into it. They weren’t rejecting him, they were rejecting the Truth, the fear of the unknown, and even though they are not yet ready to experience Chiropractic themselves yet, I just bet they will tell the story Joseph told them to others.

When others reject what we say, whether it is patients, friends or family it hurts, it hurts reeeaaallly badly. We have to understand that they are not at our level of understanding yet. And it may take something unfortunately bad like low back pain to get them through the doors. I know we don’t treat low back pain we don’t “treat” anything in our office. We remove nerve interference allowing the body to reconnect man the physical with man the spiritual and some pretty amazing and wonderful things start to take place within the body. That’s what we tell our patients, we don’t treat back pain and some of them look at us like we’re nuts, until they start being adjusted and all those amazing changes take place.

If we listened to every bad thing others said about Chiropractic we would be knocked off of the Chiropractic mountain and down to their level. That’s why we have to wear a suit of armor stronger that their suit. We have to be able to leap over criticism wider than the Grand Canyon. We have to be able to stop people in their tracks with a powerful Chiropractic truth faster than a blue light special at Wal-Mart. We have to have hearts bigger than your favorite heart box of chocolates on Valentines Day. We have to continue to tell the Chiropractic Story to everyone that crosses our path. We have to keep fighting and never stop like the great leaders before us. We have to never rest until our offices are bursting at the seams and then start adjusting in the parking lot. We have to have fun and know we are making a difference everyday, and we can’t do it alone. We have to stay connected.
