The 42nd Annual CMA Awards 2008

The 42nd Annual Country Music Awards (CMA Awards) broadcasts tonight on ABC at 8pm eastern and 9pm central time. Country music sensation Kenny Chesney leads finalists with 7 nominations out of 12 categories. The Country Music Association Awards show is being hosted by Carrie Underwood and Brad Paisley.

Country music sensation Kenny Chesney leads finalists with 7 nominations out of 12 categories. The Country Music Association Awards show is being hosted by Carrie Underwood and Brad Paisley.

There are a total of twelve categories for tonights awards event. Those categories include: Female Vocalist of the Year, Male Vocalist of the Year, New Artist of the Year, Entertainer of the Year, Vocal Group of the Year, Vocal Duo of the Year, Single of the Year, Album of the Year, Musician of the Year, Musical Event of the Year, Song of the Year, and Music Video of the Year.

Female Vocalist of the Year – Martina McBride, Alison Krauss, Miranda Lambert, Taylor Swift, Carrie Underwood
