Parker College of Chiropractic announced it has achieved university status and will rebrand as Parker University. The Dallas-based school cites the name change as part of an expansion of current graduate degree offerings and programs with a focused long-term strategy of educating the world’s top health care and wellness practitioners for today’s changing health care landscape.

Surgeon General Report on Chiropractic

Effective, well-documented care exists for the most common spinal disorders, yet nearly 87% of all Americans who have subluxations fail to seek chiropractic care, according to the first ever Surgeon General’s Report on Chiropractic. The report, commissioned by the Health and Human Services Secretary, focuses on the connection between spinal health and overall health, barriers to receiving chiropractic, and the specific issues of children, adults, and the elderly.

Sherman College Appoints Vice President for Enrollment Services

Kelley Jones Ashcraft has been appointed vice president for enrollment services and will direct Sherman College of Chiropractic’s efforts to build student interest in chiropractic as a career and increase enrollment in the doctor of chiropractic program at Sherman College. Prior to her work in higher education, Jones Ashcraft worked as a marketing analyst and planner at Milliken & Company. She holds an MBA from the University of South Carolina, a bachelor’s degree in mathematical sciences from Clemson University and has completed coursework toward a doctorate in higher education administration.

New Palmer Board of Trustees member named; reappointments announced. The Palmer College of Chiropractic Board of Trustees is pleased to announce that Susan Hatfield, Ph.D., has been appointed to the Board, effective January 1, 2011. This one-year appointment was made by the College Certificate Holders, who annually evaluate applications from potential Board members.
