Drugs Do Have Risks

Sunday’s Los Angeles Times featured a front page article titled “Risk Was Known as FDA OKd Fatal Drug.”

According to the article, documents now show that a drug company was aware of the life-threatening risks involved in using a product they were bringing to market yet they still received Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approval.

Records obtained by reporters had shown that executives at the drug company knew that patients taking their drugs in clinical studies were now suffering from life-threatening liver damage yet the company assured the FDA that the risk of using their drugs was trivial, according to the article.

The Los Angeles Times has done an incredible job covering this topic and there are several dozen related articles available on the L.A. Times web site. You’ll want to visit the L.A. Times site soon since their links are usually not available for more than one week. All links and related links are below.

Are the drugs that are entering today’s marketplace coming in based on science or profits? Is it at all possible for you to live your life without the need for pharmaceuticals? Don’t you think that you’d be better off? Drugs do have risks.
