Nashville Marathon – Country Music Marathon 2009

It's Marathon Saturday in Music City. This morning, seven thousand five hundred marathon runners, and twenty five thousand half marathon runners, take to the streets of Nashville, on a course that runs through downtown Nashville, with a finish line at LP Field. A hundred thousand cheering fans line the streets as 2009 Country Music Marathon participants pass by, making their way through Nashville, with 50 musical bands playing on 27 entertainment stages along the way. Hundreds of high school cheerleaders motivate marathon participants to the finish line, and a post race country music concert follows Saturday night.

It’s Marathon Saturday in Music City. This morning, seven thousand five hundred marathon runners, and twenty five thousand half marathon runners, take to the streets of Nashville, on a course that runs through downtown Nashville, with a finish line at LP Field. A hundred thousand cheering fans line the streets as 2009 Country Music Marathon participants pass by, making their way through Nashville, with 50 musical bands playing on 27 entertainment stages along the way. Hundreds of high school cheerleaders motivate marathon participants to the finish line, and a post race country music concert follows Saturday night.

This is the 10th annual Country Music Marathon & 1/2 Marathon, with runners kicking off at Centennial Park and running past Nashville’s many scenic sights. Along with other healthcare professionals, Nashville Chiropractors have their hands full, providing chiropractic care and volunteering services to scores of folks in the country music city.

Watch 2009 Nashville Marathon — The 2009 Country Music Marathon & 1/2 Marathon is featured on a 1 hour national broadcast on Fox Sports Net and a one hour national broadcast on FSN, with a one hour regional show on Comcast Sports Southeast.

2009 Nashville Marathon Photos — Official finish line photos are taken along the Nashville course by Action Sports International. Participants are advised to keep race bid numbers in clear view to better identify themselves in photographs. As we’ve seen in past marathons (2008 Nashville Marathon & 2007), many local professional and amateur photographers line the streets, taking marathon photos, which are uploaded to photo sharing sites like Flickr. Give photo people a few days to upload photos and then perform searches for tags or terms like Nashville Marathon, Country Music Marathon, Nashville Marathon 2009, and such.

Who won the 2009 Country Music Marathon? — Amos Matui (Bib #3) of Kenya won the Men’s division with a time of 2:13:41. Alphonce Yatich Kibor (Bib #8) of Kenya took 2nd place with a time of 2:14:53. Noah Tatem (Bib #1) of Kenya finished in 3rd place with a time of 2:14:54.

Tatiana Pushkareva (Bib #51) of Russia won the Woman’s division with a time of 2:36:44. Yuliya Arhipova (Bib #52) of Kyrgyzstan finished 2nd with a time of 2:38:29. Albina Gallyamova (Bib #57) of Russia finished in 3rd place with a time of 2:40:39.
