Advanced Laser Therapy Training - Low Back Pain

Dr. Benjamin Yuen will be participating in a one day advanced seminar on the integration of laser therapy in the treatment of low back pain. This course will focus on the etiology of back pain and existing methods of therapy. There will be a particular emphasis on teaching various techniques that can be applied in any clinic setting to achieve optimal outcomes.The key-note speaker for the course will be Dr. Yuen who currently operates the largest laser therapy clinic in eastern Canada. Dr. Yuen will describe how to successfully balance laser therapy with other techniques. Presentations by Dr. Fernanda Saraga and Dr. James Donovan will follow outlining the fundamentals and concepts of laser therapy. Dr. Saraga's lecture will examine the roles that frequency, duty cycle, duration and other parameters play in the application of laser therapy, whereas Dr. Donovan's presentation will discuss clinical outcomes in treating low back pain. In addition, a report on the clinical trials regarding the treatment of back problems at the Meditech clinics will be reviewed. Benjamin Yuen has a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Toronto and a Master of Science degree from Bridgeport University. He completed his Chiropractic training at Anglo European College of Chiropractic in Bournemouth, UK. Dr. Yuen has been a practicing chiropractor for the past 31 years and has lectured throughout Canada, England, China and the United States. He has also served four years as Director, Post Graduate and Continuing Education Division at Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College. Dr. Yuen currently operates a very busy and successful clinic in Nova Scotia where he has effectively integrated laser therapy into his practice. James Donovan, B.Kin. (Honours), D.C., DAc. James Donovan received an Honours Bachelor's Degree in Kinesiology from Dalhousie University in Halifax, Nova Scotia. He completed his Chiropractic training at the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College Cum Laude in Toronto, Canada. Dr. Donovan is a Certified Kinesiologist, Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist and a trained Medical Acupuncturist. Since joining Meditech International, James has gained an extensive knowledge of all aspects of laser therapy with a particular focus on the clinical aspects of this revolutionary treatment method. He participates in our Certification Courses, including Advanced Training Courses and lectures at meetings throughout Canada. Fernanda Saraga, B.Sc. (Honours), M.Sc., Ph.D. Fernanda Saraga holds an Honours Bachelor's Degree in Physics and a Master of Science and Doctorate Degree in Physiology from the University of Toronto. She has published 6 articles in peer-reviewed journals and has previously lectured at York University and the University of Toronto. Since joining Meditech International Inc., Fernanda has been actively involved in the Clinical Research and Education Department, including lecturing in the Laser Therapy Certification Programme.
