50 Years of Excellence: Sherman College Honors Pioneer Virginia Brannon, D.C., at Lyceum 2026
SPARTANBURG, SC — As the chiropractic community gathers for the highly anticipated Lyceum 2026, Sherman College of Chiropractic is taking a poignant moment to look back at its roots. This year’s event carries a special weight, marking the 50th reunion of the college’s inaugural “Pioneer” graduating class of 1976.
At the heart of this golden anniversary celebration is a tribute to the late Virginia Brannon, D.C., a member of that historic first class whose impact on the profession continues to resonate half a century later.

A Living Legacy: The Virginia Brannon Endowed Memorial Scholarship
To ensure Dr. Brannon’s dedication to principled chiropractic lives on, her family has established the Virginia Brannon Endowed Memorial Scholarship. This endowment is designed to support deserving Sherman students in perpetuity, providing a bridge for future DCs who share her passion for the art and science of chiropractic.
“Dr. Brannon represents the very heart of Sherman’s founding spirit—courage, conviction, and a deep commitment to principled chiropractic care,” says Sherman College President Dr. Jack Bourla. “Through this endowed scholarship, her legacy will continue to open doors for students and strengthen the future of our profession.”
As part of the commemorative activities, Dr. Bourla sat down with Robin Brannon, Dr. Brannon’s daughter, for an intimate conversation reflecting on the early days of the college and the enduring influence of the Pioneer Class.
Lyceum: A Bridge Between History and the Future
Lyceum Week serves as Sherman College’s premier annual homecoming, attracting alumni, faculty, and students from across the globe. While the week is packed with high-level continuing education seminars and guest lectures from the profession’s leading voices, the 2026 milestone brings a deeper focus on the bonds of the Sherman community.
Vice President for Advancement Bruce Rosengrant noted the power of such contributions: “This scholarship is a powerful example of how one individual’s legacy can create lasting opportunity. We are deeply grateful to the Brannon family for their generosity and vision.”
For those inspired by Dr. Brannon’s story, the college encourages others to explore how they can support the next generation of practitioners.
