Summer is on its way, graduation ceremonies and Father’s Day take place this month, and there’s lots of activities for people to focus on, other than buying or selling practices, and seeking chiropractic employment. It is early to say if there will be a drop in advertisements placed for the summertime season, although we do tend to see a bit less activity in July and August each year. Searches for chiropractic jobs are at an all-time 10 year high, so this may be the first year there is no decline in summer advertising. Only time will tell. Enjoy your June!
According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, 67% of American workers don’t like their jobs. People start working when they are 16 to 18 and don’t stop until they are 65 or older. Careers chosen at 18 may not be appropriate when they turn 50. Changing careers is a well-established fact of employment. Vincent Van Gogh, the impressionist painter, was a schoolmaster, student priest missionary and art dealer before he became a painter. The days of retiring to Florida are long gone. Dr. Bernie Furshpan retired, made that dramatic career change and now he’s poking fun at his experiences.

Cohen, of Innate Chiropractic, Inc. is still as excited to be a chiropractor in 2009, as he was when graduating a Doctor of Chiropractic program in 1998.
The United States Postal Service is offering nearly a quarter of its workforce early retirement and is cutting more than 3000 jobs in an effort to slash operation costs in the currently declining US economy. The USPS is expected to close six district offices that provide administrative functions, affecting more than 500 employees that work in those departments.
