After the change received 95% approval from members, the board has increased the number of members serving. Oklahaven Children’s Chiropractic Center, a non-profit organization that treats sick and disabled children through chiropractic care, recently honored Parker University with the Golden Heart Award as the chiropractic institution that raised the most funds during Oklahaven’s 2012 Have-a-Heart Campaign. Each year, hundreds of chiropractic offices, chiropractic institutions, and many other advocacy groups around the world join in the Have-A-Heart Campaign to raise funds to heal children through chiropractic at Oklahaven.
Effective, well-documented care exists for the most common spinal disorders, yet nearly 87% of all Americans who have subluxations fail to seek chiropractic care, according to the first ever Surgeon General’s Report on Chiropractic. The report, commissioned by the Health and Human Services Secretary, focuses on the connection between spinal health and overall health, barriers to receiving chiropractic, and the specific issues of children, adults, and the elderly.
Patients often walk into our office and stare in amazement at the huge cork board by the front door. What are they looking at? They see dozens of pictures of children on our Chiro-Kid wall, ranging in age from 10 hours old through elementary and high school. Even the UPS person and other delivery people are taken aback the first time they come in when they see the pictures of happy kids around our front entrance.
