The city of Pittsburgh will honor six-time Super Bowl Champion Steelers at noon today in a parade held throughout downtown Pittsburgh. The 2009 Superbowl victory parade will use the same route as Pittsburgh’s St. Patrick’s Day parade, beginning at the Mellon Arena on Center Avenue and Washington Place. The parade is expected to end at the Boulevard of the Allies and Stanwix Street. Streets in downtown Pittsburgh will be closed for several hours before and during the parade. Those attending are urged to use public transportation and make use of river shuttles being offered to the downtown area.

Super Bowl 43 (XLIII) between the Arizona Cardinals and Pittsburgh Steelers (Steelers won 27-23) featured 67 game-time advertisements televised on NBC that ranged in costs between $2.4 million and $3 million per 30-second Superbowl commercial slot. The Super Bowl is a marketers dream as it is the one televised event of the year where people excitedly tune in to watch the commercials. It’s becoming a national pastime to vote on one’s favorite commercials and talk about them during the days following the NFL’s big championship game.
